I suffer form insomnia in a bad way. I will go weeks without sleep. at these times I cannot function as a person or father to my two year old son( I am a stay at home dad) I had to go to the Dr. to get some sleeping pills. I only take them when I can"t sleep. I lay down and if I am not asleep after a time I will take a pill. I do not take them willy nilly. as I right this I am up passed my bed time but I am not on the pill. If I do not sleep tomorrow I will take a pill. as I write this it is 2AM and I have no desire to sleep. good luck, god bless and all the best

(whoa, an Evanescence fan! me too!)

usually i try to read a book, but if that fails, i turn on my nintendo DS and start playing a strategy game, like Final Fantasy or whatever. The part when you're trying to get to some place and monsters keep popping up gets you bored.
If not, you could try music from Enya or something. Like those really slow, slow almost wordless songs.

If that fails, take a warm glass of milk. If not, close your eyes and start fantasizing about something.

A boring book or half an over-the-counter pill if this is an occasional thing. But if you suffer from chronic insomnia, try a doctor!
