You are somewhat correct. It depends on what kind of birth control it is and it HAS to have levonorgestrel in it, which is the active drug in Plan B (the "morning after pill"). She shouldn't take a whole pack though, that is WAY too much.

Plan B has 0.75mg of levonorgestrel in it. Certain birth control pills can contain anywhere from 0.1mg to 0.25mg of levonorgestrel in them. So, taking anywhere from 3 - 8 tablets of regular birth control pills is equivalent to taking one dose of Plan B. A woman also has to take the active pills in a birth control pack, NOT the last weeks worth of pills. These pills are basically "sugar pills" and have NO active drug in them.

I work in a hospital pharmacy and we had a woman come in as a trauma a few months ago. She had been beaten and raped and she was terrified that she might become pregnant. We were completely out of Plan B and the pharmacist recommend to the doctor that if she took 5 pills of regular birth control pills that we had, it would be equivalent to a dose of Plan B. She was then suppose to take another 5 pills in 12 hours. The doctor agreed, so we popped out the "sugar pills" and sent up a pack of regular birth control pills.

If your girlfriend is considering doing this PLEASE have her talk to a doctor. Taking Plan B should be the first choice and she should have no reason to not be able to get it. If she is 18 or older she can go to any local pharmacy and pick up Plan B (it's over the counter, but you need to ask someone in the pharmacy for it). If she is younger than 18, she can go to any local Planned Parenthood or her doctor and get a prescription for it.

***Also, taking several birth control pills will not kill her. Birth control pills are nothing more than female hormones involved in conception.

Plan B contains different ingredients than birth control pills. If she is over the age of 18 she can go directly to a pharmacy counter and request Plan B without a doctor's prescription. If she is under the age of 18 she needs a prescription. Either way, she has only 72 hours after unprotected sex to take Plan B to prevent a pregnancy.

No, 3 rows of birth control pills would more then likely KILL HER. Plan B is different all together.

No, birth control pills regulate menses/ovulation. Plan B prevents implantation of a fertilized ovum, which of course means that ovulation has already occured (DUH). Since neither you or your girlfriend have a clue when it comes to birth control don't have sex. The offspring you would bring into this world doesn't deserve parents like you.

No...bc pills are not preventing implantation, as Plan B is. BC pills...well, they do something, I'm just not sure.

I was conceived on them, and that's all I know about them.

no, but your girlfriend will get seriously sick. That is an overload of estrogen. Next time try using a condom or better yet, if you don't want a baby, don't have sex.

No its not. She could make herself very ill and still be pregnant and goodness knows what it would do to the fetus.
