The tradgy a VA tech could have been prevented if people were not afraid to stand up and make our school officals do something about bullies. Every school believes that it is safe. the truth is its not. This kids that do these horrible acts were tortured every day in their lives. At one point all of us were. But some kids just can not get over it and move on. I believe that kids who get off torturing these kids should be removed just like we remove people who we believe are terrorists. Just like terrorist these kids are putting bombs in the schools and just waiting for the time to pull the switch. True some kids do just kill themselves and it ends with that, some dont. I almost lost my baby into this web of hate and we are still fighting to keep her strong

I hope I'm not understanding your question right. It seems to me that you are saying this nut was the victim of the bullies. If so, maybe you should try to read the news articles a little more closely. This guy was showing predatory behavior for years, things such as stalking and voyeurism. To me, that's real close to bullying. If someone bullied him, he should have sucked it up and got over it. Apparently the girls he bullied did, none of them have walked into a class room and shot down 31 people. He was a nut from the word go. freaks like this are the punk, thug cowards that people say they are. A wimpy low life nut and nothing more.this entire nation seems to want to be some kind of victim " it's somebody else's fault". This nut blamed other people because he felt inferior to them. He blamed the rich. He wasn't using his time studying and trying to better himself. He was just skating by, slacking his way through college, waiting for success to happen to him.

I think one of the main things that could be done to prevent this type of incident to happen again is this...... They need to pass a law that does not allow the media (which would be hard due to freedom of speech) to broadcast a story for days. This is where the problem is. You have these nut jobs wanting there 15 minutes of fame. For example...after the VA Tech Shooting, there was that one guy in Washington that said that he was going to make the VA shootings look like nothing. Why? Because he watched tv and saw all of the attention that Cho was getting. So in my opinion, when something like that happens, the media needs to talk about it....but do not give the a--hole the time and day with all of the media coverage. They need to just state the facts, and not give the criminal ANY air time. No name, no face, NOTHING. If they knew that the world would not know who they were after the committ such a horrific act.......would they do it?

Stopping bullying will not be the only thing that we need to change.

Our society needs to change a lot. We need to teach children to deal with others in a kind, firm and honest way. We need to teach children to accept that not every body will want to be their friend. Children need to be taught that everybody who is different to them is not to be put down, or otherwise denigrated.

One thing which is absent from society is that we are teaching people their rights but not their RESPONSIBILITIES. With every right comes a responsibility

How do we do this when we are shown on the movies and TV these things. A lot of people today are learning their moral codes from these places. This is due to a lack of time and real parenting skills. Most parents are caught up in just trying to survive life. They also have not been taught social skills in any formal way. If they were lucky they had parents who had good skills and were able to absorb them.

A lot of movies and TV shows tell us that we only need to meet a girl or boy and then we can take them to bed immediately. We don't have to wait. We don't have to court each other. Some even go further and if you don't get what you want the first time then you use manipulation and blackmail to get it. the social skills shown are skewed and unrealistic.

The other extreme that we are being shown in the visual media is that everybody out there is a creep and only wants to have sex with us. The stranger danger campaigns of the past have a lot to answer for.

We have to stop the idiocy that every problem can be solved with violence. we need to let children see that there are consequences to violence. We are not letting them see this with the visual media that they now have available. Especially video games.

Well, there is nothing that the school official can do because they are afraid of lawsuit or something else, I'm not sure. I was bullied since I was in elementary until high school. I was beaten up, I was humiliated, I was mocked, I was robbed, etc. It is just the way it is. Nothing you can do to prevent bulliness. Kids can bully you outside classrooms and outside the school. One time I was beaten up until bleeding on my mouth and nose by five big kids outside school. I was in high school. I was very upset and I was afraid to go to school for a couple of days, but afterward, life was like normal again and I did not see those kids. You just have to be strong and pray.

I agree that it is imperative that we do something about bullying in schools.
[I know a boy who was repeatedly attacked at school; but he had taken Tae Kwon Do, and each time he just "dropped" the guy who had put him in a headlock, then went to tell a teacher. No punching, no kicking, just got away and reported the incident. That's one way to stop a bully.]
But, bullies did not make this man a paranoid schizophrenic. It is a brain disorder, and nobody did it to him.

Hate is a bad thing But we are all victims of lawlessness and criminals and terrorist. If law abiding citizens had the right to carry a gun ,the law abiding people of Columbine ,VT,and 911 would not have died.Shore guns kill,But guns would save more.Just think how many would still be alive today if law abiding people carried a gun.But instead we give the sick-o and the terrorist a 100% chance of success..The police cant do anything.Police will never be there when you need them. And when thy do arrive thy arrest the wrong person ,and if it wasn't for the added killing that person would still be in jail facing death row..

You need to grow up a bit. Cho went off the deep end. Thousands of children US-wide are "bullied" and get over it and lead productive lives. "Bullying" is a part of school; always as been, always will be. The part that most people, like yourself, fail to realize, is that those bullied don't pick up a gun and shoot 30+ people. Cho was an aberration, nothing more.

As a side note, Cho had hatred against "rich" people, who, incidentally, worked for their wealth. People like Cho never see that fact. They just see wealth as a convenient patsy for their mis-placed angst.

I can guarantee you that this tragedy won't stop the way kids treat other kids in school. There will still be those "outcasts" that everyone has to make fun of.

I agree completely. It is those quiet kids who seem like outcasts who are picked on a lot who usually end up snapping.
