Don't you think the parents of the killer should get prison time for what they did? There is NO excuse for raising a son like that. They had to have abused him sexually or something. Charges need to be filed against them. They should at least be sued for everything that they are worth.

If I was a parent this would have NEVER happened. I would have given him help, so that it would have made it impossible for him to do this.

Do you want to be arrested if your sister or brother goes mentally ill and they say its cuz you picked on them? There is no proof if the parents did anything wrong. the dude was at an age where he is accountable for his own actions. His family already appologized and is shamed for all of this. Living knowing what their son did is enough punishment Im sure.

No I do not think the parent's should get prison time.
Their son was too old for them to be financially responsible for his actions.

However, I do believe they are responsible for the way he turned out. Within 48 hours after they knew it was their son they should have apologized for failing in their job as parents. A statement from his sister 5 days after the killings is unacceptable. It was too late and his sister is not the one who raised him. One sibling cannot control another but a parent can. It was wrong for the statement to have come from the sister. They ran a very large successful dry cleaning business so there wasn't a language barrier. KBS (Korean Broadcast System) went to the dry cleaners and interviewed a male (not his father) and a female (didn't see who it was) and another person at the family's business. They also went to their home, someone answered through the door but refused to comment. I wasn't paying much attention and I am not fluent in Korean but if KBS can get information from the family or family spokes person, the American news media should have been granted that same courtesy. I think it shows arrogance on the part of the whole family.

You cannot blame the parents. Every American household has a different way of life. If the killer told his parents about his plans then I think you might have a case. The shooter had mental health issues. Sometimes, mentally ill people do not get help until it is too late.

So you also advocate this "prison time" to George & Barbara Bush for birth of George W Bush?

Do you honestly believe you should get prison if your sn or daughter does something wrong and you had no control of them doing it.

You're a dingbat, a bloody it, stupid.

And why should they be sued? ... Fk Americans mentallity on situations like this ... always sue..... thays whats one of the three biggest problems you have in your country "Gun Laws and Lawyers and of course Bush".

Technically, in your own argument you as an American citizen should be jailed because of all the deaths "you" have caused in Iraq.

What a bloody idiot you are, a nincompoop.

When somebody is a paranoid schizophrenic, like Seung, it isn't that simple. As long as he is under 18, his parents can hospitalize him and/or make sure he takes his meds. After that (and he may not have been anything like this before 18) it is extremely difficult to force an adult to get treatment against his will.
Paranoid schizophrenia is not caused by the way you are raised. It is a brain dysfunction. Nobody did it to him.
Paranoiacs have delusions of having been abused and mistreated when they have not. Seung made this clear in his video, when he accused everybody of trying to make him miserable just for their own gratification. His rant didn't make sense, and this is because he was psychotic.
I have worked with paranoiacs and victims of abuse; they are not the same.

You are being very judgmental here. For all you know his parents could have been amazing parents! Or they may not have been. The fact is you just don't know.
Ultimately, they are not responsible for what he did, they obviously did not assit him in any way and had no knowledge of what he was planning to do.
Society has just as much influence on a person as does their family so watch where you are pointing the blame.
Anger and revenge will not make this problem any better, it is what got us here in the first place.

...you're kidding right?
Following your logic no person is accountable for their own actions. The parents are not to blame and there is no reason to believe he was abused. There have been a great number of serial killers who came from good homes and had good childhoods. How do you explain that? Psychosis plagues many people, most of which have no family history of mental illness, and people usually don't present signs of mental illness until college years. No one knew the extent of his mental illness, not even his parents, because his and every adult's medical history is private.
Your idea, if you can even call it that, of arresting the parents is absurd. He was an adult and responsible for his own actions. He knew the consequences. Your "logic" goes back to that of medieval times. No person should pay for a crime they did not commit. He is accountable for his own actions, and saying you think his parents should be charged is equal to saying you think he is innocent. Shame on you, sir.

You are kidding right? Giving him a decent living after being poor immigrants? Put him in one of the most privileged Universities in the country? Obviously he had money to buy the weapons, plus you are not very much knowledgeable about the law, he was an adult, how can they be charged? Please people think before you make these stupid comments. or ask these non-sense questions.

So, if you shoot people, your parents should go to jail and execute it. It seems like Islam. In Quran said an eye for an eye. Let's be real. The parents live in Washington DC. They work hard every day. Their son live in Virginia. I can bet that this guy never communicate with his parents. It is not his parents' fault. The son who shot the people, not the parents. Be REALISTIC!

That's not the main concern. They knew that he was a mental case from the beginning and they never got him help, or put him away. It sounds sad, but look what he did. This world is messed up, they sold guns to a mental patient. See how f'ed up the system is? Oh yeah sure you're a crazy person, here's an f'ing pistol, have fun!
