Or did I buy the wrong thing?
This might be a dumb question, so hang in there. He is always working on his cars, a newer dodge neon and an old saturn. I bought a Craftsman 3 ton hydraulic jack, that is subtitled a SUV jack. He can still use it for his vehicles, the 3 ton SUV is just an example of how large a vehicle it can support, right? Or should I make an exchange?
Thanks for your help.

You have all been really helpful, I did get 3 ton jack stands to go with, but I didn't want to say initially in case I had picked up the wrong jack.
I'll probably ask your opinions on those rolling tool chests closer to Christmas.
You guys are so helpful and kind; I'm going to hang around M&R for a while!

first i gotta say, you rock! a woman getting her man this kinda stuff kicks ***. so, i'm assuming he doesn't have a jack already? how about jack stands? a creeper? some QUALITY tools. (Craftsman or Snap-On. something along those lines) find out what he doesn't have and could use. drop light, gift certificate at an auto supply store he uses frequently. my girlfriend got me a crfatsman roll-away and top chest and a craftsman workbench and that gave her the title of the best woman in the world. not only with me, but all my friends now think so also! a jack is friggin awasome as a gift for a man that works on his cars. and it makes it even better that you spent the money for the good craftsman.
hope this helps

There will probably be a lot of times when he has to jack up one part of a car and every time he uses that hydraulic jack (like if he changes his own oil), he'll remember that you got it for him. That sure beats having to worry about how he's going to get the car off the ground! Good Job!

Get him jack stands too! DO NOT get under a car with only the car jack. 3-ton or otherwise, he must rest the car on jack stands.

You did great! Maybe get him a pair of jack stands as a little extra bonus, that is if he deserves it of course.

If he is not desperate for a jack he will not appreciate much. Buy a jack for his car model.
