I don't have to. i love housework. knowing i'll have a clean house afterwards is motivation enough for me

I tend to put off doing housework because it seems boring. Turning on music or listening to a teaching program on tape helps, because then it gives my mind something else to do while I am doing the dishes, for example. But obviously that won't work with vacuuming.

I struggle in this area, but am trying to get better about it. I have found the FlyLady's website extremely helpful (www.flylady.com).

I also enjoy watching t.v. shows that are about uncluttering and making a home nicer, such as "Clean House," "Clean Sweep," "How Clean Is Your House?" (a show that cleans up the abominably dirty--that motivates me to clean because it reminds me of how disgusting a dirty home is), and "Neat."

Watching these shows has helped me make a lot of progress in learning how to be organized and sort items into categories. Seeing it demonstrated repeatedly is like positive reinforcement that helps it sink in.

The house is definitely easier to clean when it is orderly and not burdened with clutter. This has helped a lot.

I forgot to mention the t.v. show "Mission: Organization," which I also find motivating.

We work on the principle that if someone who matters to us or one of us is coming over we get with it. Otherwise it is sort of shift and make do because tomorrow is a better bet. I find that the kids having a new boy/girlfriend that wants to visit a lot is the best incentive. Without the need after we have all been busy at uni, work or school it doesn't happen more than the necessary. Invite 'important' people over, it provides a deadline.

Use a timer. Play beat the clock. Set a timer for quarter-hour to get a job completed, then artwork like loopy to get it completed. ruin down 40 5 minutes into 3 diverse jobs, shifting from one interest to a various after the timer is going off. Then reset the timer. After the 40 5 min is up take a fifteen min. ruin. Then start up lower back. yet do no longer incorporate the laundry in this habitual. Do one load an afternoon while it won't interrupt what you are attempting to get completed someplace else.

I absolutely HATE cleaning. But, I love a clean house. Also, I have a 3 1/2 yo at home all day. So, I like to make it into a game for my daughter to motivate her to help out. Motivating me is usually the bigger problem though.

I have a few friends that get into a chat room with me and we do race cleaning... sounds silly but it works. One of us picks a task, and we all go do it as quick as we can. First one back wins! :)

My daughter loves the race part of it too, so we both get a lot done :)

I am a working mum ( I am an electrician so I do heavy lifting in the sun most of the time) with two rowdy young daughters and usually find the best motivation to clean is to visit my neighbours who are all stay at home mothers with homes that scream perfection (and boredom to I suspect)

I just love the feeling of walking into a clean, organized home. I literally sleep better and am "happier" generally when my home is clean and organized...

I'll make myself a detailed list of what I need to get accomplished, put on some good music (Kenny G) and start with the first thing on the list and move my way down!
I love to feel the accomplishment as well... :o)

Honestly, I jump into the shower first. That usually wakes me up , then I put on some of my christian music and make a list and see how many things I can get done. When they are accomplished I reward myself with something I really like but don't eat often, or might be a luxury.

wow good question.. i am a full time college student and it is hard to get motivated..pick one day to do all your housework then after that..just pick up after yourself everyday..it will go alot easier that way and it will make you feel good ..trust me i know i get home and i am so tried and then i have homework to do..it is never ending..than add housework and laundry to that list along with supper and other duties..just do the best you can
good luck

Tripping over stuff on the bedroom floor and no seat to sit in in the longe room and no room on coffee table to put coffee. It's a 'gotta be done' attitude for me.
When I had my family I was always between having a 'perfect' house and an untidy one. Always clean though.
Once I get started the energy comes with it.
Happy dusting to you.
