Boy Shorts??

Question

Just recently, I saw my 12 year old daughter looking around at some boy shorts underwear like these

and I thought to myself...why is she looking at those now? What's wrong with her underwear now, similar to this:

(and I know that because I am a mom who does the laundry around here) Should I be worried about her wanting boy shorts, or is it ok for a 12 year old to have boy shorts. Is it even any of my business, questioning my daughter's underwear? Should I just let it go and not mention it and not worry, and not make a big deal out of it? Is this something to worry about? Will I need to worry about it in the future? Thanks in advance!

I guess I am worried about her butt hanging out of them...I'm not saying she has a huge butt, I'm just saying that boy shorts are made to have your butt pretty much hanging out of them and I don't know if I should let my 12 year old daughter wearing them.

Are you serious? It's nothing to worry about. I find boy shorts to be extremely comfortable and they have more "coverage" than some of the more skimpy undies out there. Don't worry until she starts looking at thongs! If it bothers you enough to post on here or raises any questions in your mind, why not talk to her about it? It's always good to keep the lines of communication open with your child.

Look, boyshorts are just a fad. Im sure that some of her friends have them and she just wants to fit in. In a while the fad will go out and she'll like whatever is next along the way. In the lockerroom maybe to her its embarassing to have different shorts or she wants to be unique, which is totally fine. Whichever it is, dont worry about, trying new stuff is what being a kid is all about. Just be happy its only underwear.

In my opinion boy shorts are great they're comfy and provide more coverage. There are different types of boy shorts as well some are skimpier than others. But I think they're cute and not to sexy at all unless they're lace which usually crosses the line with most moms. they might not even show her butt have her try them on over her panties or tights and you make judgment. And of course it's your business your her mom and your the woman of the house and it's your responsibility to teach your daughter how to make good decisions even when it comes to panties. Moms should always be involved in there childs life in every aspect. At least she's not looking at thongs or lace panties.

I don't think you have anything to be worry about at least she is not look at thongs that's another story but take to her and see if they are more conformable to her and i think your 12 year old underwear is your business everything she do is your business till she 18

Its totally cool that shes lookin a different underwear! Personally I like boy shorts better! Ther more comfy! Its no biggie, She just wants to try new things. I'm sure shes seen advertising on tv, magazines, etc. and was currious. Don't worry!

You shouldn't be worried about your daughter wanting boy shorts. She's getting to that curious stage in her life. If you feel uncomfortable about her wearing them then don't buy them for her. Of course it is your business. You are her mother! And she is only 12. You will not have to worry about it in the future. She will be older and more mature to be able to wear boy shorts.

the underwear she's chosen are actually cute. they aren't too sexy for a 12 year old at all.
the underwear from old navy are a little bit young girlish, and in sixth grade you have to dress out in PE and she most likely wants underwear closer to the ones the girls in her school wear.
if she wanted to wear lacy stuff or thongs, i'd be a little bit worried.

No no no. Dont be at all woriied. Boy shorts are less revealing anyways!! Theyre just in right now and cute. Shes at the age where trends are going to take control of her so just be open minded and try to remember how it was when you were her age... its a lot harded now especially to fit in. Good luck.

Boyshorts are more comfy because they cover more. I am 13.. Why are you worrying about this?!!? They are just like normal underwear.. Why can't a girl have different kinds of underwear!

you are overreacting actually. the ones your daughter wants provide more coverage than the ones you show. so I would not worry about it. what exactly do you find wrong about a boyshort?

When I was growing up back in the 80s, my mom could really care less what I wore, so long as they were clean and they fit me.
