Dead battery is quite possible.
The engine needs electricity to operate.
If your alterator took a dump on you, the engine and electrical components drained your battery.

Sounds like electrical problem. The sound of a dead battery? A dead battery makes no sound. Not even a click. Battery bad, probably..now.
Check the connections, wiggle the wire, kick the tires and if that doesn't work then, we will look at other things it could be.
It could be the alternator. If the battery will not start, then it wasn't getting charged while running so the alternator is probably bad too. When you drive with a bad alternator you can also mess up the regulator. I would have someone with some kind of knowledge look at it. You can get a rebuilt alternator for about $50, with trade.
Then charge the battery and see if that works.
The fuel can cause other troubles too. When was the last time you had a tune up on this Dodge??? Changed the air and fuel filters?? That too can be the trouble. Check with NAPA or Carquest on prices. They are probably less than $10 each.
Sounds like you have you hands filled. Check with the Junk Yard and get an rebuilt alternator first. While you are doing that, put the battery on a charge for a while. Again, speak with someone that knows what he's doing. Don't want the battery to blow up on you.
Good luck

Sounds like your alternator is dead. You don't need a battery to operate a car when the motor is running, but if your alternator is shot, the car will run on battery power until it dies like yours.
But to be sure first, take your battery out of the car, get someone to start your car with booster cables, by connecting the booster cables to the proper battery cables without the battery. MAKE SURE THE BATTERY CABLES DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING METAL. When the car is going, disconnect the booster battery. If the car keeps running , it was either the dirty baterry terminals or dead battery, if the motor dies, it is the alternator...have it tested.

First check your battery to see if the connections have a white powdery substance. If so, then disconnect the battery, clean the terminals and connectors with a brillo pad, and reconnect. Try to start the car with the headlights on. If the lights go dead when you try to start the car, then the battery is dead. If the lights go dead when you try to start it, then charge the battery, or use jumper cables connected to another car that is running. If you get your car started, then I would immediately go to an auto parts store (like Advance or O'Reilly or Napa) and they should check your battery and alternator at no charge for you.

Bad Batteries don't cause a car to stall once it has started.
A bad ignitor would probbably cause this problem.
A bad alternator could cause this, it also would prevent the car from cranking over after stalled.
If it is your alternator you should see a battery, and emergency break warning light on in your dash.
Fuel problems would have symptoms like hard to start, bad acceleration, poor idle. Then possibly if the pump went bad it could stall, but the car would still try to crank over, it just would not be able to.

Because people are selfish idiots. That kind of irresponsible behaviour disgusts me, these people make me so angry. People who do that deserve the same fate. How would they like to slowly cook to death? I just read that news item and I'm apalled, especially considering that it was a police dog handler who should have known better. The person in question wasn't even suspended! I bet he doesn't even get punished :( Well done for reporting about the 2 dogs to Morrisons, some people would have just walked past without even thinking. I hope those people felt ashamed when they made the announcement in the store.

If the engine won't turn over it's probably an electrical problem. Check the battery terminals, if they are loose or corroded it can cause this problem. You could also have a bad battery, a loose alternator belt, or some other problem preventing normal charging.
