I'm not talking about not reporting it, or not leaving the relationship, but why wouldn't he defend himself? I wouldn't have a problem defending myself, by whatever means i saw as necesarry.

If "restraining" her didn't work, I wouldn't have a problem smacking or hitting in order to avoid being scratched or kneed or clawed.

What would cause a man not to fight back? Fear of legal consequences? Misplaced chivalry? Love? Physical handicap? Just wondering.

To Centralnyguy, Riteon, and Ckgene: your guy's stories only confirm my point of view. A guy will get in trouble no matter what he does, eventually,so why not fight back? I'd rather deal with more legal consequences than look at myself in the mirror after letting a woman hurt me when I could have stopped her. God willing, I never get put into a situation like that.

Because men are taught that it's "unmanly" to hit a woman. Besides that, they have seen the consequences of doing so. The law often tends to favor the woman (not in all cases) but most, even though it was the woman's fault. She can always act and talk like she's the most innocent thing in the world.

This is how I see it. Any kind of hitting is wrong, whether done by the man or the woman. If the woman hits a man, she has put herself in the man's shoes and deserves the consequences of her actions. Same goes for the man if it were in reverse. Physical abuse doesn't solve anything...period.

Well if you have to bow down to there level then your not helping the situation at all that just makes you a follower and when your kids see that then they will be the same as you and her thinking that's what people do . I am stronger then a woman and can take the pain that she had to inflict on me for the sake of the kids . Nobody wants to be beat on but there has to be an end somewhere one of you must be above it all or you would end up with a death on your hands

I can assure you there will be legal consequences if you smack her around... Just call the cops... the justice system is very liberal in this day and age and just about always sides with the woman.... especially if she is nice looking.... I know I have been through it.... I have never smacked someone around but I put my hands on a woman one time to restrain her and I got in trouble for that... so be careful....

You know, that's a good question. I do not believe in a man hitting a women...but I don't believe in a woman hitting a man either.
I had a friend that used to smack her husband around, I lost respect for her and him for taking it. Finally he hit her back one night when he had been pushed to the limit. She called the cops and had him arrested. When I heard about it, I told her she should be ashamed of herself. You hit, expect to be hit back. He was such a nice person, it was hard for me to watch this, but you know, once she found out he just might hit back, she never done it again.

No. God took a rib from Adam and created Eve. Why a rib bone? 1. Because it's under the shoulders so men may protect women. 2. Because it's near the heart so men could love women.

He was taught to never hit a woman so even when she is doing the hitting he can't bring himself to defend himself.

That man is pusilllanimous by nature/nurture and should see a therapist to define the epistomology of this (unhealthy) reaction.

i have never really beat up my husband but i did get really mad and punched him in the arm repeatedly. he just laughed at me because i guess i cant hit hard. maybe that's why they don't do anything. because it doesn't even hurt.
