There has always been a position that has dominated the era.

In the 40's-50's it was outfielders (Williams, Mantle, DiMaggio, Snyder, Mays ect.)

In the 70's it was third basemen

In the 80's-90's it was shortstops (Smith, Vizquel, Nomar, Jeter, A-Rod)

What position will dominate this period?

Pitchers!! Rivera, Papelbon, Santana, Schilling, Matsuke, Mussina, Hernandez, Zito, Smoltz, Beckett, Schmidt, and many more. No question about it!! This is the era of the pitchers!!

Outfielders

There are not enough dominant pitching rotations [1 through 5] in today's game for it to be pitchers
