Since US is very liberal in their 'Arms Act' and a Psycho like Cho (Irony even in the word "Psycho" - Cho is there) getting guns just like buying candies from Shops I feel that responsible persons like Professors and senior persons should have the protective Arms to avoid these kind of mass death. To loose one crazy guy is better than loosing so many inocents - I sort your opinion on this - Thanks.

Good question. The problem here is that the good responsible citizens were unarmed and the police failed to protect their lives. The gunman, either alone or in group had 2 hours - not 20 minutes - 2 hours to go on a shooting spree, and the police did not stop him. What's wrong with this picture???

I think it's a total system failure of gun control and gun free zone. Gun control doesn't work. It deprives good people of self defense and allows lunatics to get guns, possibly unlawfully. This is the worst of both worlds.

I think properly trained citizens who hold responsible positions like teachers should be allowed to bear concealed weapons for instances like this. When the police is bumbling around scratching their heads, these teachers could have protected their students.

No one put a gun in that idiot's hands, okay. Guns were the motivating factor in this case. The factors that lead to this incident are: parents who didn't parent, and people who knew that cho-cho posed an immediate threat to pubic safety, including his own, and turned a blind eye. Figuratively speaking, THEY put the guns in his hands. THEY are to blame. Don't you think it's quite strange that psy-cho's family didn't even offer an apology until Saturday? That entire family may need to be under a microscope. They're behaviours and lack of parenting leave much to be desired.

I do not think teachers and professors should be responsible for trying to stop a psycho. There are security personnel available and they should be dispersed throughout the facilities.

Relax.

All we have to do is get the background check fixed. He was declared in a court to be a threat to himself BEFORE he bought the gun, but Virginia State didn't pick it up.

Initial reaction is " Are you nuts or what?"

Mental illness can pop up anywhere any time. It doesn't always manifest itself in obvious ways before exploding into cultural violence.

Giving guns to anyone is irresponsible. Putting the load on academics is just wrong.
