3-4 pellets per feeding is good. And don't just feed him once every other day as another poster suggested, far better to feed at least once a day.

What type of hikari pellets do you have if its the large kind feed it 2 every other day
if its the small kind feed it 3 every other day

Drop in 2-3 and if he eats it all give him 2 more. If he lets it sit too long he doesn't want it anymore, especially if it floats to the bottom.

4 pellets every other day is prob good. fish dont need to eat that much to survive. if you over-feed him then he's jus gonna **** a lot and make his water dirty.
