Lets say you give your buddy or girlfriend or boyfriend $400 to get you a laptop at a sale he's going to. He comes back and is like, here you go, its a great laptop and you love it, but it was $530. You told dude to spend $400. He's like, you owe me $130. You're like, dude I said spend my $400. That was the deal. You don't have that extra $130. You're a little pissy because it's not what you asked for, its great but its not what you asked for and now you gotta come up with $130. ???

In my opinion, your buddy would be the one at fault. You do not owe him anything. It was him that decided to spend that extra $130, not you.

Not enough information. But $530 for a great laptop that you love doesn't sound too bad. You'd rather pay $400 for a crappy laptop? Or have none at all? Maybe there was nothing at the sale for $400.

I am a picky person who would never trust someone to spend $400 of my money if that was all my disposable income.

Final thought: you can't get blood from a turnip. If you don't have $130 you don't have it.

What all this may have cost you is a relationship.

Honestly, I guess I'd just come up w/ the $130.
If it's your boyfriend, offer him a trade, such as a massage, or something else. If it's just a friend, offer to set up a payment arrangement w/ them.
If you REALLY don't wanna pay the $130 then tell them you'll give them back the laptop, if they give you back your $400.00.
But you DO need to consider a few things.
One, they did you a favor and went to the sale.
However, they could've called you while they were there and discussused it w/ you you, before spending money that they you didn't have.

The person who spent the 530 is wrong. He/She should have asked first if the other person could spend an extra $130.

He needs to give you back your 400, you give him the lap top. He made a decision he was not authorized to make on your behalf. Why on earth didn't he give you a call before the purchase? As uncomfortable as he has made it for you, you should stick to your guns. Of course if you still want the lap top, then you owe him 130 bucks. Good Luck!

well if you have it then its no biggie.

but on the other hand if u dont have it ur right, because u told him to only spend the $400.00..... just talk to him and be like dude why did u get me this , i dont have the money to pay u back...
but then mabe that was all they had, or that was the best one , and he thought just to get it because it comes with alot, and its not that much more.

so its really what u choose. i would just talk to him.

The guy who bought it is wrong for not buying a $250 dollar laptop and pocketing the other $150...

$400.00 being my limit. He/She should not have purchased the lap top since it was $130.00 extra without first consulting me. I am only a phone call away. And now that we have cell phones, all the more convenient and easier to consult with me. It was not his/her decision to make. So I would say with out a doubt.... I would be ..... right. :)

Return the laptop, get the money back, spend yours, return his/hers. Nobody is wrong. Just a little misunderstanding.
