As I think:
(1) Some ways:
-Role models teaching kids at an early age that violence is not either a right or a good answer to problems.
-Stop bullying. It's natural, but so is disease. It'll hurt and warp minds and will morph a young one's innocent mind into one of anger, depression, and sadness, leading to violent actions as their output of bullying's input.
-Get kids to learn how to communicate at an early age. We should give everyone a say and not leave them out feeling isolated. Anyway, it's much easier to spot someone going rogue if they communicate more.
2.
To save yourself:
-Don't panic. This is the most important thing to do for anything in life. You hear this everywhere but how many people follow the advice? Don't panic so you can think more clearly.
-Get away from the killer. This is easier said than done, of course. Try not to take the most common way out- the killer may have planned ahead for such an escape.
-Don't trust others. There may be more killers- who can you trust?
To save others:
-Don't panic. You will add to the chaos if you do.
-Saving others could be contradictory to saving yourself because you might have to go out of your way to help others, prevent you from saving yourself. Sneak attacking the killer or distracting him/her will be very dangerous and maybe it would be the last choice you make, but if done correctly it could delay him/her enough so that a few more people can survive. Whether to give your life for others is your choice though.

If you are referring to the tragic even at VT then first of all. When the first shootings 2 hours prior were heard of. Clear the SCHOOL! dont continue on with your studies. The best way to prevent it would be to have metal detectors in all universities and colleges throughout the United States. If you don't want teenagers to play with guns. Teach them at an early age. There has to be discipline early in a childs life for them to no from right and wrong. Sometimes you can't save both yourself and your friends. Depending on what means most to you will determine that.

Realistically...
1.) a.) Ban gun ownership.
b.) Place metal detectors before each automatic door, and make sure these doors don't open if the detector goes off.
c.) Have a few highly-trained security personnel on school/campus grounds.
2.) I always imagine myself trying to come up from behind and grab the shooter's guns and shooting hands, hoping someone else sees this as an opportunity to help me.
To be honest, though, if I hear gun sounds on my campus, I will probably be leaving through the nearest window and will advise everyone who is around me to do the same thing.
I have heard that some people at VTech decided to crouch under a desk rather than jump out of a window because the window was "20 feet above the ground." I would take my chances with that.

I'll keep it simple. One thing we can do is cut out all the media attention these types of things get. I mean all of it, not one word or coverage. We should not be making stars of these wackos, if it be that we need to let people know if they are in danger, then that is fine, some kind of red alert system that lets people know they are in danger. But realistically ,were they supposed to evacuate 27,000 students and where were they supposed to go??? As far as I know this man acted alone, people had an idea he was crazy but ultimately he did this on his own. He fooled the doctors, his family never saw it coming. How can we stop these things unless we just have cops, guns, and detection everywhere. Bad situation for everyone, I have no clue what to do. These kids had no chance, they were unarmed and trap in a corner. Bottom line is that some day the reaper may show up for you and I, so lets go out tonight and have a beer. I'm gone.

definite, we want greater inpatient psychiatric centers. this is perplexing to discover bedspace even for people who come to the neighborhood emergency branch begging to be hospitalized. And whilst you're underinsured, this is that particularly greater difficult nonetheless. Who comes to a decision who's insane? maximum places, this is 2 physicians, or a surgeon and a psychologist. yet to guard the guy's rights, this is barely for a seventy two-hour carry, with a decide in a court docket as protector of civil rights. and you're possibly suitable approximately this: lots of the President's govt orders have been truly an identical via fact the NRA's place. If Wayne LaPierre could provide up feeding the anti-gun crowd sound bites to castigate him, the NRA could come again to being the quasi-governmental corporation it was, with very almost no one having a gripe in regards to the corporation.

Stop the bullying in schools first of all. I'm sure there is one person in every school, or even a group of people, who others make fun of, just for a laugh. What they don't realize (or they just don't care) is that bullying hurts people. It lowers there self esteem and some even contemplate suicide. Others get angry and lash out. These are the school shooters.
How do you save yourself and your friends? In the middle of a shooting? Duck and cover. Some will sacrfice themselves in order to save others. You do what you have to do.

I assure you that if someone started unloading a weapon in an Alabama school, he would be taken down before killing 33 people. Draw your own conclusion. Perhaps, the federal law banning weapons on certain property isn't saving lives. Such laws may only bind the innocent to being victimized by the mentally distubed or the criminal.

Strip search 3 times a day. no lockers no personal objects.
Never going to happen. I hope
Doors that can not be opened from the hall with out pass code.
Use desks as shields and rush the wacko. They cant shoot you all if you don't give them time.
Banning guns will not stop shootings. Drugs have been baned for years. Did that stop them?
The laws are in place enforce them. This guy was known to be wacko why was he not listed as one and baned from legally buying the guns? Who did not put him on the list?

Let them know they are valuable and lives...every LIFE is important.
My "school" is to become licensed ministers and the "campus" where we are isn't really open to the public but if some one walked in with a gun we'd all be Home with Jesus before we knew what happened.

Reinstate prayer in school and quit teaching that God doesn't exist. Without Jesus there is no hope. Those who commit suicide usually have reached that place of no hope. The only hope for this world is Jesus. As long as we continue to push Him out of the country, these things will continue to happen.
I would hope that I would go after the guy myself and sacrifice my life for my friends. No greater love...
