At home, since there are only 2 of us and He works long hours...I take care of everything domestic. When the kids were all at home everyone shared in the chores on a rotating basis. I changed the order weekly so everyone would learn every chore.

I live alone and I am a slob, I usually use paper plates, but the dishes I do use sit for a very long time. I once left some silverware for so long it could not be cleaned and I had to toss it out. When I was home I kind of liked washing the dishes. I think it was the warm water and soap.

One of the chores children learn early on is to wash dishes and set the table for a meal. Yes it's important that they learn to wash dishes but also to learn to cook for themselves.
Electric dishwashers are nice, but I wash my own dishes these days.

This is a far better question than it may seem at first reading.
I bought a dish washer about three years ago and it is such a time-saver!
But prior to that purchase my daughter and I did them together.
We continued our dinner conversatiions over the washing up!
I found doing the dishes together was an excellent time to talk.
And yes, I very much think teaching children any household chore is very important.
They have to do it for themselves one day anyhow!

I completely understand how you feel. However, this is not a matter of fairness. This is a matter of citizenship. Your logic only applies in a situation where you cooked all the food and you ate all the food and you washed all the dirty dishes involved. When you partake of a community meal, you accept the obligation to participate in cleaning it up. If you can completely separate yourself from that meal, then you have a good argument regarding not participating in the clean up of it. That will entail purchasing your own food with your own money and eating it in a place that is paid for with your own money with your own silverware and dishes and cooked, if need be, on a stove of your own that uses energy that is billed to you in cookware that you exclusively own. Oh - and you'll need your own refrigerator.

LOL! LOL!! LOL!! My son puts the dishes away and he does nothing but piss and moan. I find the time as a way to catch up on what's going on in his day. He does NOT! It's important to teach kids anything.
