It seems politicians LIVE for political gain.

What is more important to you than being a Republican/Democrat?

Family, God, friends, freedom, etc.

My freedom to choose a candidate based on their views is more important than walking in lockstep with either party.

A politicians goal is not doing the "will of the people", it is to keep their job. EVERY politician will place party loyalty over personal integrity. Most NORMAL people will see things the other way around.

My family, my home, my life!!!! Being one party or the other, to me, is not important. The important thing, to me, is that ultimately, all the mud slinging is not doing either party or politics in general any good. Looking at history, educating yourselves on the real issue and then making an informed decision should be everyone's resolve. Rather than just slinging mud, insults and rhetoric.

From a top down point of view, politics does controll peoples lives.

From a bottom up point of view, food, shelter, love are definately more important. That is just a basic sociological fact of basic needs. I like the point of view of Kant that people need freedom in order to be able to reason. Reasoning brings us closer to a more unfied morality.

Family, friends, life, work. All kinds of things. Politics are way down on the list.

I live in a beautiful small town and every morning I can stroll around the town square and then go watch the sun rise over a nearby lake. I wouldn't give that up for anything.

My kids and my writing come before politics, and actually I never cared about politics (I'm independent) until 9/11 and then because of the obvious corruption that has followed. As long as the next president isn't as corrupt as Clinton or as corrupt and incompetent as Bush, I'll be happy. (GO RUDY!)

My wife. My children. My faith. My country.

My political party is, really, meaningless. I'm a centrist, a moderate Democrat. But if I were a moderate Republican, I don't think any of my views would change.

Faith & Family and LOTS of other things; it's how I was raised. I RARELY talk politics in my daily life, except for on here. I keep my politics & religion fairly private, but I think those around me know and respect where I stand because I try to live by example.

My politics are so much a part of me that I can't imagine a situation that doesn't somehow involve them--they are directly tied to my sense of morality. But as far as party affiliation, or labels go, my family comes before ALL!

Freedom to express my views is important, as are faith, hope and charity. As Jesus said, "Love God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself", so compassion and understanding are important to me. I try to be fair and conciliatory, and try never to do harm. I try to be slow to anger and quick to forgive, but it sometimes seems the opposite happens. At that point, working on myself is important.

Reading and continuing to educate myself (and those close to me) are important. Evolving is important.....
