Occasionally, one movie comes and stands out. But overall, you're pretty right.
Writers are running thin on scripts and plots. A lot of the movies nowadays rely on special effects, star power, gore and shock. They have very simple storyline .
Also with the shortage of ideas, they are making remake or movies out of television series. Come on, next year there is going to be a Sex in the City Movie.....? Which will be basically a extended episode.
Then there are movies basically made to sell merchandise.

I'd have to agree. Plots aren't as creative or original as they once were, and it seems that relying on crude or dirty humor is now the norm, instead of actually using creativity and wit to make a movie funny.

sorry, but i think it's you.
these days, there are tons of movies being made, movies that cater to every taste. from regular Hollywood releases, to foreign films, to art films, to indie films, to the Sundance Channel--i could go on and on.
i say if you can't find the type or quality of film you are looking for these days, you aren't looking in the right places.
don't look for Hollywood to be your only outlet--you are severely limiting yourself if you do.

Hollywood is running scarce on original concepts. Most of the stuff that is out is just regurgitated crap from 10-20 years ago.

i agree with you, it seems that they lack creativity. Seems as though anyone with proper funding is able to put together junk and release it.
I seriously love all the classics such as Gone with the Wind, Godfather, Casablanca, etc.
what happened to taking the time to make good movies like that?

I think I would have to agree. Every movie preview on TV makes it look so good funny and/or scary and when you actually waste your $10.25 on it it's a piece of ****. I could write better screen plays than these people.

i have to wonder the ages of people who ask these questions.
and some of the answers.
You have no taste if you thinktheir geting worst.
there are some huge movies out there. try going to see one and stay out of the G rated movies.

its just you. i cant wait till spiderman 3, fantastic 4 part 2, transformers, and some other movies coming out this year.
