Sure - by the time you get through an interview process it will be a week or two anyway. Then you'll give two weeks' notice at your current job (or wait until school ends), so it will be almost the end of May.

Just let the hiring manager know in the interview that your availability to start work is the end of May. Good luck!

it depends on the type of job.
the lower the level of the job, the sooner you will be expected to work. at mcdonald's you probably will start 3 days after being hired. at higher levels several months could elapse between the decision to hire you and when you start.
that is my experience. if it's entry level and you have a degree, then yes you should apply in april for jobs in may.
applying, interviewing and selecting all take time. and no one expects you to start immediately after selected.
if it's a fast food entry level job, you will have to tell them the date you can start work.

It doesn't matter. The employer will ask you when will you be available, but you won't know exactly how long he can wait.
