Company loyalty to the employees, followed by pay, followed by future benefits.

Look at this comparison:

Case 1: A couple is married, he works, she keeps the house (used to be standard America.) After 25 years they divorce because he wants some young "cheap bimbo" now. So the courts give her 50% of everything because she helped him succeed in his job.

Case 2: A person works at a company for 25 years and is 5 years short of retirement. The company has thousands of employees in the same situation and so in a few years will have a huge over-head in retirement pay. So the company pays off a couple congressman, gets NAFTA passed and moves the company to Mexico leaving the employees behind and without retirement (because they didn't finish the full 30 years). Nobody stands up for the worker and everyone says "Mexicans do the jobs Americans won't". The company got new young "labor sluts", but nobody cares that the worker helped build the success of the company and got shafted by the republicans and "big business".

One of the things I expect from the company is type of work that I can use with other companies. You may decide to work at the same place for life. Be prep-aired to move on if you think it's better. You would never know.

I'd look for a copmany that rewards individuals based on work ethic not who kisses @ss better. I know you'll never escape office politics, but it the intensity that is disturbing. I'd rather work in a position that semi-inspires me, but values and rewards my hard work than an ideal position where I don't feel valued or jet decent financial compensation.
