Yes. It can indeed be quite appropriate to bake your boss a pie when on a company a picnic. I have done this once and received to very amusing results. The pie to be baked depends on the boss in question. If you want to go for something more exotic that a fruit pie try baking one of these beauties: Lincoln County's Black Jack Pie, Chocolate Angel Pie, Fluffy Orange Gelatin Pie, Fudge Pie, and a Snickers Pie.

Depends on the context. But it sure would be hard to find a situation where baking my boss a pie is appropriate...
Well, if you baked a pie and shared it with everyone at the office, including the boss, that's ok.
If you baked a pie for the potluck party your boss has, that's ok too.
But if out of the blue, you wanted to give your boss and only your boss a pie...you might not be able to avoid some misunderstandings such as...you're in love with him/her...you're trying to get in his/her good favor...you don't understand work politics
Well, if you and your boss has a good rapport going, then it might be ok...(but why wouldn't you share the pie with everyone?!!??...that is still cause for suspicion in people's eyes)

i had this really good out-doors, way up on mountains job last summer... we were all the time making camp fires and cooking lunch on the open fire. That boss was awesome, and yes, i would bake him a pie any day.
but no, my present boss can fall in the oven for all i care

I baked my boss a pecan pie, his favorite. i thought it came out bad but he loved it. It's nice to be married to the boss!

It is MUST! we have to impress our boss and make them feel happy.Giving us chance to work is consider a big and delicious PIE from them.

Yea, why not? I bought an apple strudel to my lady-boss and she love it very much!
I did this not because I want to get a promotion, but I did this because it shows how much I care about my colleagues and the lady-boss herself. =D
