I named my daughter after the make-up "L'Oreal". I remember the night so vividly, I was about 8months pregnant, watching tv at 2am with a pint of Pecan Pareline's & Creame Ice cream....I was on the phone with my baby daddy when the commercial came on ...and I was like we are naming her L'Oreal...everyone thought I was joking, but I really did name her L'Oreal..I thought it was unique and different...Now she is asking what it means and all I can tell her is that I think it is French. She told me someone said it meant "beautiful one" I think she was just flattering herself though.

it's true... she must be flattering herself,... I've gone to every translator website, and asked my french teacher,... it just means "the oreal"... so it must just be the company name. nothing extraordinary... lol but I think it's a pretty name... ignore the others.

It's derived from the French "auréale", meaning halo (akin to the word 'aura') - which was the name given to the original hair dye that started the company. So it means 'the aura' or 'the halo' but it's not perfect French.
