I apologize this may seem kind of morbid but I really am curious. I would assume they must cremate them in some way. I'm a huge animal lover and I just have wondered this.

Usually they perform a necropsy to determine the cause of death for any valuable animal.
After that maybe the tigers and other carnivores have a special steak buffet coming up for the next several weeks.

Giraffe do not cremate their dead ,neither do elephants ,
although Elephants have funerals ,they all walk past the body and touch it with trier trunks ,as if to say goodbye .
In Nature death is not a problem its an asset and means dinner for a great variety of animals
a dead giraffe or elephant only lays around for a few days before it is completely devoured by scavengers ,lions ,hyenas ,vultures ,wild dogs .
and at the end the micro organistic world finnishs of if there in any thing left
after a week you may find the odd bone ,but that is doubtfull

Hi, Large animals such as giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, hippos, rhinos etc are necropsied to verify, analyze and determine cause of death. Once those animals have passed on, the scientific community is notified to see if any researcher has interest in the animal. Museums are also contacted to see if they want certain remains, bones, pelts in their collection. The remaining animals, parts and such are incinerated.

Our zoo(St. Louis) uses an animal remain company to pick up their dead animals. They are cremated....The recent exception was an elephant named Clara, they buried her on the zoo grounds, so the zookeepers could visit her.
