the Virginia Tech Shootings, Nasa shootings, New Jersey student with gun, bomb threats in schools, weapons in schools, lockdowns in schools, Columbine anniversary, increased violence in Iraq.... what is our country coming to?.... why so much violence... it really disturbs me

All this violence happens in any given week in this country. I think there is much more media attention this week as a result of the VT shootings on Monday, which were a terrible tragedy.

There's always been violence but the amount that the public can stomache keeps going up so the more violence the public gets. Just because the media shows more grotesque stories doesn't mean violent crimes have been going up or down. They don't make those sort of judgements.

Actually this week represents many violent anniversaries.

*** Waco (branch Davidian), USS Cole, Oklahoma city bombing (these three on the same day), Columbine, etc.

We are trying to look like Iraq these days. Well, they keep calling Iraq a democracy. If that's what a democracy looks like, we are well on our way. It's a race to the bottom.
