The answer to your question may be as simple as accepting the fact that the international talent is exceeding that of home grown talent in America. Someone may argue that Kobe Bryant is still better than Nash (Canada) and Nowitzki (Germany) but Kobe spent several years playing abroad in Italy. Just take a look at the drought the dream team currently finds themselves in on the world stage at the olympics and notice how in 3 of the past 5 nba drafts, the top overall pick has been an international player: Yao Ming (China) 2002, Andrew Bogut (Australia) 2005, and Andrea Bargnani (Italy)2006.

No ones being racist. The majority is black americans, no? Nash has got one of the best mentalities in the game, and Nowitzki too, these guys are the ULTIMATE team players. Thats how they are the "better" ones if you will.
When i started following NBA, it was with the Mavs, cause Nash was my fav player, but when he moved, I followed him, so I'm a Nash and Suns fan.
But anyhow, its just the way these two players perform for there teams that makes them so valuable. They can do what counts and that is to make the right decisions when it matters.
Obviously, Other years you had Duncan or Shaq or Garnett as the "better" players in the NBA, for the same reasons, they excel their teams. Right now its the peak of Nash, and Nowitzki is prolly going to remain at this high level for another few years. Wade, LeBron, etc and others will prolly be the successors.
No racism, never look at the NBA with racist eyes or anything, its just a sport - big deal if they have different skin colours.

Dirk and Nash are two of the top 3 NBA players, but they are not even close to the top of the list of NBA athletes.
Shawn Marion is the only one who's a better player and athlete than Dirk and Nash, mostly because he's the only one who's a better player, but several others, especially Lebron and Wade, are better athletes.
As for Kobe, since others have mentioned him, it's a stretch to include him in the top 5, maybe even top 10, players, but he's definitely a top-5 athlete in the NBA.
For those of you who saw the Will Smith and Kevin Kline movie "Wild Wild West", I think of Kobe as the Jim West of the NBA and Nash as the Artemis Gordon of the NBA. Kobe "shoots first, shoots later, shoots some more, and when everybody's dead, tries to ask a question". Nash is a much smarter player, and that's one reason he's a better player.

The best player is Kobe. Nash and Nowitski happen to be the best players on two of the best teams, but are only in about the top 5 overall.
To answer your question: Because Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitski are white and you assume them to be the two best players. Again the actual best player is not white and being white has no effect on the skills of the two you cited.

The MVP will go to either Nash or Nowitski, but that does not make them the best players. Kobe is the most talented player in the game. AI has the highest carrier point average of any active player. Wade is already reigning NBA Finals MVP. King James is a fantastic young player with terrific upside. I haven't even mentioned Kevin Garnett. There is Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan, Gilbert Arenas. Shaq and all his NBA rings who happens to force more double plays than anyone(possibly any other two players), .....................
I really think I could go on forever

Hate to break it to you homie, but your sadly mistaken.....Yes I will agree Nash and Ski are very good players.....But to say the best is really stretching it.....Just think about all the point guards and determine who Nash could bet one on one, probably not many of them....So he couldn't be the best point guard....Now what about PF's think about all the great black PF's and determine who Ski could bet one on one......Again he probably wouldn't be the best cause for one he's not as quick, strong as some of the black PF's out now. I don't see him beating any on these cat's one on one Stoudemire, KG, Sheed Wallace, and probably some others that I'm not even try to think about.....And if we even take it one step further and say just NBA athletes.....Then these two guys don't come close to Billups, T-mac, Kobe, Wade, Chris Paul, The Truth, The Answer, Melo....oh boy this list could go one for days....Those to white guys are just getting all the glory right now cause their playing on winning teams.....Let them be on losing teams and see if they get the spot light then......I don't think they would......hahaha This was a funny question!!

Not too sure of Nash's case but he is a cannuck. In Dirk's case years ago Germans were bred with the intent of having a superior race or a least a bigger better human specimen. This is not unlike the slaves of past who were also bred with the intent of having a much harder working prodginy of future slaves. That is all in the past Let's ALL move past those subjects.

They might be favorites for the MVP, but LeBron and Kobe are the best players in the league. Most valuable to one's team does not mean the player with the most skills. Race, biologically, has nothing to do with talent. The reason there are generally more blacks in bball is the same reason it's the other way around in hockey.

Not just white, they both are foreigners as well! Foreigners are usually more team-oriented, while the Americans have more athleticism and individual skills. Kind of explains, why the US didn't win several international events lately. So, some foreigners, who are really good, like Nash and Dirk, are more likely to be very valuable for their team. If you like dunks and individual moves, you are more likely to go with Kobe/LeBron/Wade, but when people start talking of most valuable player for his team, they go with Nash and Dirk, because these guys are team-first players.
