Look, ignore some of these answers. If you had an ulcer (stomach pain) from Advil it's the same medicine as motrin and naproxin. Unfortunately, the kind of NSAIDs that didn't cause ulcers were taken off the market b/c of heart problems. You can take plan tylenol. If tylenol 3 makes you sick, try to take it on a full stomach (lots of carbs). You may be a candidate for hormonal therapy to help regulate your cycles and to help w/ the cramping.

For now, I would agree with everyone else until your surgery is over. Use the heating pad, Tylenol and I have tried hot tea before and it has helped. After surgery, talk to your Doctor about taking Nexium (comes in prescription) so you might be able to take Advil again.
Anyway, Good Luck on your surgery. I hope you will feel better soon.

Try Motrin then take a nice hot bath, afterwards relax with a heating bad on your stomach and if your feeling up to it do some gentle exercise. The heat will help relax your muscles and ease the pain a little as will the exercise. Good luck with your surgery

Well, medication wise, I am clueless....BUT I do know that a heating pad and tall glass of milk will go quite some way with cramps.....also as someone who struggles with taking painkillers (make me nauseous), I have learned that you have to eat a meal before taking them...don't know if you've tried that yet.....good luck, and hope everything turns out OK

i know how you feel. Advil is like the only thing that works and I still have to take 20 a day. I was told to take Aleve, can you take that?

You might want to try another stomach medication other than Prilosic to reduce acid production.
Histamine H2 acid reducers (such as Tagamet, Zantac, Pepcid, and Axid) reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
Proton pump inhibitors (such as Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix, and Nexium) also reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach (and are more potent than histamine H2 acid reducers).
Antacids neutralize stomach acid.

How about Alleve? I believe it is a different chemical than either Tylenol or Advil. You may want to check their site to be sure.

See another doctor...get another opinion and/or Rx. Something doesn't sound right. Naproxen can also irritate your stomach
