I cannot figure out what it can be. the car makes a semi hollow noise coming from the front near the engine. when i first start the car after sitting overnight huge exaust fumes come out. I have stick. the clutch makes more noise as well. and also when the clutch is in the hollow noise is not as bad as when I am on the clutch. I am thinking either the catalytic converter, clutch, or exhaust? any suggests before I bring it in the shop to get looked at?

Throwout bearing for the pressure plate and clutch is worn or dry. Or pilot bearing for the transmission shaft.(noise)

As far as the fumes and at startup, Valve seals.
Or leaking fuel injectors.

TYPE of car would help. The smoke could be caused by bad valve seals, does the smoke go away when it gets warm,if so valve seals are a good bet.As for the noise it sounds like the crankshaft has a lot of end float, this is controlled by the main bearings, you are best advised to take to shop that can do a better job of diagnosis than someone guessing over the internet
