but do not let people make their own decisions?
Here are examples that I refer to.
1. We must either send our children to government run schools or pay for their education a second time by sending them to private school.
2. The government regulates how our forced retirement in Social Security is invested (or not), makes all these rules on how much we can put into IRA's, etc.
3. Tells us that we cannot carry guns on our person. What are we supposed to do, wait for the police?
4. Liberals want to control health care by nationalizing it.
I am asking because I do not understand why liberals feel it is okay to take the right to make decisions about our lives in every facet of it. It seems like liberals do not trust people to make their own decisions for themselves.
If there are examples where liberals want people to make their own decisions, please explain. Abortion does not count because it takes 2 to make a child and the men do not get a legal choice in the matter.

Don W is typical of a liberal response: attack the asker.
Liberals believe you are looking for a handout when you do not want your money seized for Social Security and Medicare, both programs most people will never see anything from. My question on this was why do I have to be forced into this by liberals?
The "no one is forcing me to retire" comment shows that liberals do not believe in financial independence, only depending on the government, which goes back to why I asked this.
Then he puts out the emotional debate of what about handicapped people. Liberals use this to justify their control.
Then he goes into the name calling, which will certainly get his answer removed. It is too bad some of you will miss this one.

To clarify on retirement, the government forces you to keep it in the account until you are of a certain age, or take a penalty. Once again, control by the government.

1.They also want government run day care in MN now
2. Don't foget about making laws telling us we have to wear seatbelts! I always wear mine, not because its law, because I care for my safety. Which should strictly be my decision to wear one or not!
3. Telling business owners on their own PRIVATE property that people can or cannot smoke cigarettes! Where will it end, what's next, can't smoke in your car or house?
The list goes on and on, most liberals want big government because they think people are to incompetent to be responsible in making their own decisions! People need more responsiblity and accountability for their actions. If they make a bad decision, let them learn from that bad decision.

What makes you consider they are all liberal insurance policies or even the government's insurance policies. Most of the ones you've numbered aren't covered by way of the federal govt. For illustration; 1. You don't ought to ship your youngsters to a government run school. Faculties legal guidelines are handed first by using the state, after which the nearby districts. Funding for colleges are usually from property taxes and the federal government offers states money for extra funding. There has continuously been some necessities for studying and checking out and that's indispensable to look if youngsters are studying some thing or nothing. Mom and dad should not always the nice teachers and a few are higher than others. 2. The federal government does restrict how so much you can put into an IRA for a cause. The money put into an IRA will not be taxed until it's taken out. This used to make experience considering the fact that by and large folks earn more after retirement and can be taxed less beneath this system. I know that you could earn more and put more into 401K and you can constantly save as much as you need in a savings account or CD's. Forcing persons to contribute to SS is excellent due to the fact as an insurance you draw after retiring helps people who've worked to have slightly to supplement what you have or will have to have saved in one of the different applications. It additionally continues folks from no longer having something in any respect as the vast majority of men and women did throughout the depression due to the fact an awful lot of men and women shouldn't have any savings in any respect when they retire. Three. Quite a lot of states have gun laws that permit you to hold handguns with a allow. I think it is stupid myself. When you believe so afraid simply stay in the condominium. Four. Liberals want all people in this first-class wealthy nation to be equipped to share within the quality expensive health care once they want it. 5. Liberals didn't necessarily cross the seat belt laws. The legislation that was once passed in 1968 for the period of the Johnson admiistration was once handiest that automobiles had to have them hooked up, no longer that they'd to be used but hoping persons had the nice sense to do so. All of the states besides New Hampshire have handed their possess seat belt laws and i'm sure a majority of individuals who did had been pink states as they're the majority in the country. 6. The ingesting age is also passed on the state level, as is the age to purchase liquor, not the federal executive besides in all probability on executive property. When a inebriated is out driving and kills any individual, who do you consider has their liberty taken. When kids, a parent or buddy is killed or maimed, who do you feel loses liberty or existence. So far as i am involved abortion will not be murder. You could have cells not a workable life. No longer all people in this country believes within the Bible as some do, so what right do you ought to inform them what to do. In the event you don't love abortion, would not have one. Naturally the government would not control as a lot as you look to believe.

there are a number of conservative policies i disagree with as well, but here goes:
1. you could home-school the kids (in theory) but this would still have an opportunity cost. the only way around this bs is for the gov't to offer a tax credit if you send your children to a private school, so you are not stuck financing public schools that you do not use. the problem with this is that basically anyone without children in public schools can make an argument for a tax credit and then only the parents of kids in the school pay, negating the idea of public schools, which many people need.
2. i agree on the social security issue. i can invest my money better than some gov't monkey, quit stealing the interest i could have earned.
3. arm everyone, courtesy will increase quickly.
4. national health care? i dont know yet, the way insurance costs are rising the increase in taxes may be offset by the savings. i am still worried about the waiting times as well as a lack of a system to reward doctors who are better at what they do. i am open to ideas, but generally against the principle.

you could permit Rush understand that any between the "examples" you cite could have been bumped off at any time in the process a Republican administration. a million) have been given any concept how the accepted public college equipment started? the persons needed it. 2) All social risk-free practices money are required to be invested in government instruments. That reduces borrowing from distant places governments and is the main secure investment in the international. you could shop as lots money as you %.IRA's, 401k's are certainly tax shelters subsequently the bounds. 3) a lot of electorate can and do carry weapons. the government only tries to regulate who owns them. How's that a bad concept? 4) it works each the place else so i admire the belief. regrettably we are no longer doing that. 5) The seat belt regulation? particularly? you think approximately that a liberal intrusion? yet women folk won't be able to administration their very very own physique, people who love one yet another won't be able to get married, you would be drafted in to the militia...this is all great with you and Rush? 6) Even Rush could have a situation with a pair of 12 year-olds procuring a six %.. yet you % them to try this on an identical time as smoking cigarettes or perhaps pot? heavily? as quickly as you Rushed the abortion difficulty you lost any credibility.

A:
1. So, you're saying "liberals" are solely responsible for public education? You're wrong, but thank you, anyway. What's your solution? Home-schooling?
2. So, you're suggesting that the odds would fare better for total private investment, by many who know nothing about it? People get scammed every day.
3. It is the PEOPLE who vote on concealed & carry, in case you didn't get that memo, Sparky. You want a gun, go buy one.
4. National health care? We're the only one of 28 industrialized nations that does not guarantee access to health care as a right of citizenship. Do a little homework.
"Govt. control of our lives?"
Oh...I suppose we'll just DISREGARD the latest abortion ruling, the firing of judges because (among other reasons) they wouldn't pursue a pet porn case of the Bush admin. And we'll just conveniently ignore the govt's desire to snoop into public library lending records.

Number one is a choice in itself. Who wants their kids to go to public schools? Education should have been considered before the pregnancy. Why do you think you're owed anything? You can save as much as you want? Every thing you save doesn't have to be in an IRA and no one is forcing you to retire. Be responsible for your own decisions in life and quit looking for a handout. There are those who are physically or mentally challenged that can't afford health care and you would deny them this? You shouldn't be permitted on this planet. You're no more than a pathetic thug who wants to carry a gun. Coward!

you may ask why these rules exist... except for the healthcare one, they are pretty much in action in the U.S.
mainly because either people have violated freedoms, as with guns (like in the courtroom, that was found to be a bad idea)....
or because they simply don't seem to work very well overall in a capitalist system... why do so many nations have nationalized health care? because capitalistic health care was failing... same with schools... and people don't save very well for retirement...
and this is only 4 points... my life has thousands of facets that are totally not affected in any way by liberal ideas...
a society that merely cast those aside that makes bad decisions often turns into a third world society... that's what they do in third world countries... there is no ss... no health care... often no public schools... and it has a huge effect on the overall economic growth of a nation...

I think you be confused!
These are not decisions, the issue you refer to for example, placing our retirement money into the stock market.
This is somthing that the repups want to do with the money I pay into social sercurity, what if the stock market goes bust, then my money is gone!
If this idea was a decision that I was alowed to make I would say no, but they want to make it a law.
As for healthcare and goverment run schools, well the rich always have the choice to pay for private schools, and no one is trying to take that choice away from you.
But you must understand what no money meens, it meens no money, the working poor is being brought to a brink, and as much as the rich are having the time of there lives sooner or latter they will have to take care of there working poor.
Better to hold up your end and make your sacrifices now, then have the working poor economy fall apart and you are left with nothing.
You can expect the working poor to do it all. It cannot physically work that way for ever!

Abortion doesn't count but the government still wants to take control of that decision.
Cons want to force schools to teach creationism and intelligent design; national parks are forced to provide literature stating that the bible version of how things got there could be true.
Cons want to tell me who I can marry or have a civil partnership with.
Cons want corporations to control health care by privatizing it. Cons want to jeopardize my retirement by privatizing social security (my parents had to sell a significant portion of their retirement assets right after 9/11 because of a medical emergency, they would be flat broke without social security now.)
We can put as much as we want in ira or savings we just cant get a tax deduction for all of it, what's your problem?
Your prejudices are showing bigtime, so are mine but at least I know it

And, here all along I thought it was the cons and corporations trying to control my life by limiting my access to information through the patriot act. Limit my access to healthcare by not allowing a single payer system to pervey as opposed to the the extremely wasteful and expensive system we have now that no one can afford. Abortion counts because I'm the woman who would be carrying the fetus to term. Why do I, as a woman, have to be treated like an infant and not have control over my own body? So you think men or the government should have control over my uterus. That's called hypocritical. I don't trust anyone to make decisions for me but me. But I don't trust corporations to make decisions for me either. And, it is the corporations that run our government now for the benefit of corporations and their profits. You want to send your child to a private school? Fine, do it. but why do I have to pay for your child's religious training if it goes against my religion? That's why we have separation of church and state. If you want religious indoctrination, stop relying on government welfare to pay for it.
If we carried guns on our person, we'd see a hell of alot more Columbines and Virginia Tech incidences. the more guns that are on the streets, the more murders there are. That's statistical fact.
