No. I never went to any of the proms. I was asked by a few guys but just was not interested in the whole thing. Sounded boring with local sucky garage band and the whole pre-picked king and queen thing.

Yes, I went to my prom in high school.

Those people? Everybody was at prom. We had a blast. I made my own dresses and I helped with the decorating. And I wasn't an in-crowd type ... more of a nerd - and a skinny, poor one, at that.

I've been a high school teacher for a long time, and I've seen proms come and go. I think there's too much emphasis on some aspects of prom, but I see kids there from all backgrounds -- social classes, economic classes, ....

Many kids spend too much money and I don't like the associated tanning, dieting, ....

All in all, it's a fairly harmless rite of passage for many kids.

I liked getting all dressed up. It made me feel pretty. I didn't really like the people in my school either. Except the friends that I hung out with. And we all went together. It was fun because all we did was sit at our table, eat an awesome meal and make fun of everyone we saw. Afterwards, we all went to one of my friend's houses and had a co-ed sleepover, then we went to the shore. The entire weekend was awesome. I would highly recommend going.

I went, we stayed an hour or so then we all changed into jeans and went to the strip-pits (lakes left from mining, not strip as in clothes) and partied.
I wouldn't have missed it, but I really liked the kids I went to school with. We had great times, every day.
It is really sad that you didn't go to school with a fun group. I think in today's schools there are far more who don't or won't fit in. There were, maybe, 5 out of 100 in my class who didn't or wouldn't fit in. Maybe not that many as I can't think who any of them were.

Yes, it was great. We used to get dressed up and go for dinner just for the fun of it. We weren't rich, mostly farm kids, and most are still friends many years later. I must have been lucky, because I thought high school was great.

I went, because I thought it was supposed to be important. It sucked! You were smarter than me. There was no purpose to that night. Not memorable at all.

I didn't go to prom, it seemed like a waste of money, and I'm glad I choose not too, I didn't miss anything.

Prom is overrated. You can get drunk and screw people on a regular weekend without dishing out hundreds of bucks.
