Puerto Rico right now has one of the worst economic growth percentages in latin america, even Cuba has a higher growth than PR right now. The lack of sovereignty or colonialism is the problem.

No, the principle problem in Puerto Rico are the presence of the military and the effects it has on the citizens of Puerto Rico and Vieques.

No, it is the government and the people. People need to want to make their country/state/possession great. P.R. is divided and some of its people want statehood, while others still want independence (guess they don't understand why their standard of living is not similar to that of their poverty-stricken Dominican Republic).

Puerto Ricans need to unite and government corruption needs to take a back seat before the Commonwealth can ascend. The work ethic of P.R. could also use some assistance. Productivity must improve.

After watching what has happened to Cuba and what is happening to Venezuela, Brazil, and Bolivia,.....Puerto Rico has no problems!
