I wonder how many men who have gone through a messy and difficult divorce, and where the wife gets custody of the children, (and uses them to 'punish' the father) can completely understand his frustration and anger?
I certainly can.
Okay, the language was a bit over the top, but nobody ever accused him of being an altar boy.
And Kim Basinger is not much of a mother for 'leaking' this tape, is she?

I agree.. in fact, I thought he was showing great restraint. If the conversation had been coming from me, they would have had to beep out every other word.

I can understand that he is angry and frustrated. This does not give him the excuse to take his anger and frustration out on his 11-year-old daughter. The phone call, though, was down right abuse. After hearing the tape, I was scared for the girl.

As for Kim Basinger, I do not think she should have leaked the tape, but I think that is irrelevent. If Alec Baldwin has issues with Kim Basinger, he should take them up with her, not abuse his child.

Kim Basinger should be ashamed of herself. Pitting a child against her own father.

Alec Baldwin is no saint, however, everyone has a private life and they deserve to have it kept private.

Did Kim really think that posting this conversation on the internet would win her applause and credibility?

I feel sorry for Alec. He obviously has been frustrated in his attempts to contact his daughter. I blame Kim for this. She certainly showed everyone that she has no class, and no shame.

Alec 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley's call recognized on a headline right this moment - he grew to become into publicly berating his daughter over some 'infraction'. i did not stick to up on it as i think of that he's a blowhard. He pronounced that if G.W.Bush grew to become into elected he'd flow away the country. i'm not involved in the political ingredient of it yet whilst Bush grew to become into elected 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley stayed domicile. basically an excellent-mouth smokeblower. He could incredibly be an incredible fella' yet this public habit of shooting off his yap isn't what i seek for in "Father-of-the-365 days" run-offs.

He is more than over the top . His cork has popped a long time ago . This isn't the first time Baldwin has shown enough rage to physically harm someone ..or worse . He used to direct his rants at his ex..but apparently he hates being ignored . After listening to his O.J. threats as to what he intends to do when he gets off the plane..and then saying he'll get right back on the plane ..makes you wonder . The child needed protection..and if releasing the tape was a desperate attempt at that , so be it . All along he has been the one airing dirty laundry ; but a kid with a loving parent will want to see him no matter what . I'm sure his child has her own reasons for avoiding someone like him .

It sounds like he has made a lot of efforts in the past to try to contact her and keeps getting voicemail. It's possible he's been "right in the middle of something" but kept making time to call her-- to make sure he called when he said he would--just for her to not answer.
I AM NOT SAYING he should have spoken to her that way AT ALL. He shouldn't have left a message at all and discussed it with her CALMLY so she could understand.
It's bad the tape got leaked at all. This is thier own private business and really none of ours.

Baldwin has anger issues. If he isn't careful, he's going to alienate his only child since the kid probably already witnessed the messy divorce and whatever went on leading up to the divorce. If these parents have a problem with each other, they need to find other ways of dealing with it without involving the kid. That pre-teen/teenage corridor is a very sensitive one; when her own father says uncalled for things to his own daughter like that, even though he says he loves her, he damages her ego and self confidence. He needs to go into heavy, long-term therapy and work out all of his anger problems (wasn't he having drinking problems too?). I hope he apologized profusely and sincerely to his daughter. I would also hope Basinger apologizes to her daughter to for airing something that is personal and private and should have been kept that way. Both parents are extremely childish, selfish and seem to only think about themselves.

I am not really a fan but I feel this tape was "leaked" to make him appear as an unfit, abusive father....she wants public opinion shifted to support her cause....Now anyone with half an ounce of common sense should be able to figure out that there is more too this phone call..like how much crap did they put him thru to get him to this boiling point??

I'd agree with you if the yelling had been at his wife, but you simply do not talk like that to a child! No matter how valid his complaints are against the wife...and even the kid...if he cannot control himself better than that, he has serious problems...and certainly should not be in charge of the child until he gets them under control.

And, yes, the wife releasing the tapes to the public is just rubbing salt in the daughter's emotional wounds. Now, not only does she have to deal with what her father said, she has to deal with the embarrassment of the world hearing these tapes. This is going to be one messed up kid when she grows up.

I agree and I think we have to remember that this has been a nasty custody battle for over six years now. Tempers are bound to get frayed at times. I also have heard that the voicemail was leaked illegally. I do not think that is right.
