In a state with a sales tax rate of 7%, Hernando buys a radio for $59.99and a CD for $13.99. How much is the sales tax?

Ok. You have an answer for the first question now the second question.
(59.99 + 13.99)*7%+(59.99+13.99)=
73.98*7%+73.98=
73.98*.07+73.98=
5.1786+73.98=79.1586
$79.16
or you could do this:
(59.99+13.99)*107%=
73.98*107%=
73.98*1.07=79.1586
$79.16
Any time you are adding sales tax, add the total sale first then multiply by the tax plus the sale amount or multiply by 100% plus the sales %.

Salary = 290
commision = (7/100)*3200 = 224
total pay = 290+224 = 514

Aaron's salary is $290
Last week sales was $3200
so 7% of $3200
(7/100)*3200=224
now 7% is 224
salary=290
7% of sales=224
so the total pay is 514

7% = 7% / 100% = 0.07
