Its the correct type for my computer but every time I try to boot it up I hear the annoying beep.

There are a couple of things that could be wrong.
1st I would verify that the RAM is in fact the correct ram with the correct clock speed and shape.
2nd i would make sure that all RAM is the same clock speed (usually just causes faster RAM to slow to opposites speed)
3rd I would try taking all ram out except 1 DIMM (chip) This would see if one of the RAM modules is bad.
4th re-seat RAM you could have a bad connection.
5th if all else fails check with manufactures on correct RAM and max RAM available for specific computer.

Usually reseating or interchanging slot positions (if 2 modules) should make it work. If it does not work, test the RAM module in another PC. If it works there but not in your PC, something could be wrong w/ your motherboard's RAM slots or there could be incompatibility with your RAM modules.

Check to see that the Ram is firmly seated. Next, bring up the Bios and check what it says the total ram memory is.... then save the bios. This may solve the problem.

the beep means an error was found wile train to read it

Maybe the Memory is bad... or you got the wrong one.
