I need help finding out how to do this kind of math problem:

1 Find each sales tax to the nearest cent.

total sales: $210.13
sales tax rate: 7.25%

2. total sales: $42.99
sales tax rate: 9%

3. total sales: $895.75
sales tax rate: 4.25%

*thanks for the help!*

The formula is:
Sales price * (tax rate in %) / 100) = Tax amount
So what you bought costs $210.13 and sales tax is 7.25%, then it is 210.13 * 0.0725 = $15.23

But if you mean "total sales" as "total amount you paid including the tax", then you will have to use this formula.
Sales price * (1 + ( / 100)) = Total Sales.
Use that to find the "Sales price" then use what I've mentioned earlier to find the actual tax amount.

total sales=210.13 sales tax rate 7.25%
sales tax = 210.13x 7.25 x 1/100 =15.234425

total sales =42.99
sales tax rate =9%
sales tax = 42.99 x 9 x 1/100 =3.8691

total sales =895.75
sales tax rate = 4.25
sales tax = 895.75 x 4.25 x1/100 =38.069375

for each problem multiply the total by the tax rate to get the tax.
remember that a percentage is a fraction of 100 so 7.25% in decimal form is 0.0725 (seven hundredths and 25 tenthousandths).

i will attempt to describe the most suitable i will: in the starting up, whenever you want to scrub up for a variable (therefore x), you need to placed the variable on one section and the different numbers on the different. So first placed the x on the left component of the equation. to attempt this, you'll observe that x is unfavorable (-x). by this, to stability the equation, you upload effectual x to both section: 5 + x = 8 - x + x Now, you recognize that -x + x equals 0, so you are able to now take that out of the equation: 5 + x = 8 Now you need to placed the 5 on the right section so x will be on my own. you recognize that 5 is a favorable style (+5), that you need to stability the equation, you subtract 5 on both section: 5 - 5 + x = 8 - 5 5 - 5 equals 0, so you are able to now take that out of the equation: x = 8 - 5 you are able to now clean up x actually. x = 3 So this suggests the most suitable answer is x = 3 If we plug in 3 to the equation, we will se that it truly is authentic. 5 = 8 - 3 5 = 5 i desire this facilitates =)

you take the sales percent move the decimal two places to the left and multiply

ex. 210.13 sales 7.25%=210.13*0.0725

1. $15.23
2. $3.87
3. $38.07

p.s. if you want the total you simply add 1 to the percent after you move the decimal
ex. 7.25% =210.13*1.0725

The tax will be the same no matter how many sales.

Say your tax is 10% total sales $100 then your tax is $10.

If you have two sales that total $100 then your tax is still $10

Use this as your calculator:
MathScript Online
https://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nigb.main?code=GB_EVALMATHSCRIPT

Remember that if the percent is x, then the real number is x/100.

So, 7.25 percent is really .0725

The trick in this problem is that they don't give you the starting cost, so x*0.0725 + x = 210.13

Simplified, you can divide both sides by x, you get 0.0725 + 1 = 210.13/x

then you can flip both sides, since they are equal... 1/(1+0.0725) = x/210.13

So... go test it out: x = 210.13/(1+0.0725)
https://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nigb.main?code=GB_EVALMATHSCRIPT
paste this into the "command window" and press enter

then verify your answer by plugging it into the original equation:
now enter this into the command window and press enter:
x*0.0725 + x
Does it equal 210.13?
Does for me... looks like we did it correctly...

There I just finished your homework for you, having the answers done for you by someone else is not going to help you learn the material so you better figure out how I came to those answers (I presume you have to show your work) otherwise you are just destined to fail.

So get cracking and figure out how I came to that answer or ask a parent in the house.
