In 2000, Team Bush took over the Republican Party and laid out its promises to the American people. The following pledges and claims are taken directly from the 2000 GOP Platform. Should we laugh or cry at promises made by an administration that has ruled through deception, endless war, politicization of intelligence and the Justice Dept., outing CIA officers, and the like? Keeping Intelligence Free of Politics

Diplomacy and Maintaining Allies
“The arrogance, inconsistency, and unreliability of the [Clinton] administration's diplomacy have undermined American alliances, alienated friends, and emboldened our adversaries."

Endless Military Missions, Exit Strategies and Troop Readiness
"The current administration has casually sent American armed forces on dozens of missions without clear goals, realizable objectives, favorable rules of engagement, or defined exit strategies.” [Emphasis added.]

"Sending our military on vague, aimless, and endless missions rapidly saps morale. We are fortunate to have its dedicated career workforce, especially its criminal prosecutors, who have faced the unprecedented politicization of decisions regarding both personnel and investigations.”

First, let me state that I have no political party affiliation - I just vote for the best person.

Thank you for this reminder. BOTH political parties (Rep & Dems) know that you can promise Americans anything and deliver nothing. Our news media is so hung up on sound bites, they don't help any. We never hold politicians accountable for their promises. Our presidential election's electoral college process has made electing a president a poker game. Highly paid, unethical campaign leaders try to elect a product, not a person.

Most American have selected a political party and will stick with that party regardless of their accomplishments or crimes. The politicans bank on this.

Maybe it's time for more political parties like other countries have. (hint: Britain has more than 2 parties and Iraq has more than 2 parties) Then, we'll really have some competition.

President Clinton stood in a room not 50 feet from me and told me my job was safe and not to worry about it. A few months later he signed my job out of existence. I love him almost as much as you love Bush. I may not vote Republican but I probably won't live long enough to get the Democrat taste out of my mouth. Have you ever tried to get work at 55 with diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol problems and part of your lung missing? I really hope it never happens to you.
