For several days, I have been a lot and I mean a lot of popups from yourdebts.co.uk which is making my computer very unworkable to work on. I have tried many adware security packages (see my question in computer security section). I have even emailed the company spamming me, but they refused to answer any of my emails.

What action can I take against yourdebts.co.uk based at 8 Eggleston Court, Middlesbrough TS2 1RU.

They owe me a new computer, as they have ruined by current one.

Where does the law stand here? Surely it is wrong for a British company to persistantly pester somebody.

Thank you for replys. I have yet to get a security package to erase this virus. Norton, AVG, avast, noadware etc... all fails to detect it.

mydebts.co.uk still refuses to answer my emails nor do they answer the phone. So I am reporting them to trading standards. I am starting an campaign to blacklist the company. My computer is currently very unworkable to work on, I have had 7 pop ups from mydebts.co.uk and mydebtssolution.co.uk just to get to this answers pages. If I cant solve this problem, I will have to buy a new computer in the coming week and I will be sending the bill to the address of this spamming company.

It is not directed at you personally, it's designed to annoy everyone, so it's not harassment.

Get a decent security software package, such as McAfee or Norton or hundreds of other companies provide. Make sure the package you get includes anti-virus, anti-pop up and firewall protection, that way you will sleep a lot better.

Pure hell, isn't it? all those viruses, popups, spyware...
Unfortunately, I would think the position of any law (US or UK) is that these are KNOWN risks of using a computer on the internet., and it is your responsibility to insure that you have adequate security running on the system.
I don't dispute that it can completely overwhelming to learn all of it, or find the right software (or settings). If any of us could sue for new computers because of malware... we would all have brand new systems every week.

Forget the law. Get a popup blocker and an adware remover.

As its a pop-up its not personal harrassment (if it were personal emails it would be) so there's nothing that can be done to stop them putting pop-ups online.

However if you're sick of seeing them get a pop-up blocker or ad-blocker. I'd also check the firewall settings too if I were you.
