He and I had a few drinks on my porch, then later there was an altercation with my son, he left bleeding from his head, are we busted? He was officially on duty

If he was on duty, he shouldn't have been lounging on your porch, much less drinking. For that, he could get into trouble.

As far as the physical altercation, it depends on the injury, who threw the first punch, witnesses, evidence, etc. I'm guessing there was no police report made, so there may not be a record of the incident, otherwise.

Federal crime to impede the delivery of mail by getting the mailman drunk.

Altercations with mailman leaving bleeding will only led to an affirmative defense for going postal.

If I were you I'd hide under the a fore mentioned porch.

If he had a drink with you he is compromised and should take no action for his own reasons.
