because people have TV shows that thrive on ratings...

and every time they talk about issues, like those you mention.. .the ratings go down...

and when they talk about everything that doesn't matter... the ratings go up....

America... is stupid... not to be mean... but most don't care about any real issues...

you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink... if the people don't care, the politicians won't either...

That would be calling to task the "leaders" (?) of our country to at least make an effort to solve all those issues that you listed. And don't forget the presidential race has begun.

As for Alec Baldwin, he's all talk. I know. I was married to his type.

The Va Tech massacre was horrible, but I heard someone there say "I wish they (media) would leave us alone"... not sure if it was a student or family member.

Imus made a mistake.

We didn't need to hear these reports over and over, hour after hour. Just report the current news. I don't need to hear an analyst tell me what I just heard nor do I need to hear his/her opinion. I have my own, thank you.

You're right. They need to tell us how they are going to give us back our country.

Many politicians dont want to deal with the issues, or at least only with the easy ones.
The media doesnt want this to be too good or they wouldnt have any thing to do with themselves...
Celebrities if things were going good wouldnt be able to pretend that they had a clue about anythign at all and hijack events meant for something else to insert themselves for some face time and annoy us with their idiocy.

I believe you missed the most important issue facing America today. the socialist takeover of our government and the downfall of freedom as a result of that.

They've been covered...do a search. Strange that you would think every day events shouldn't be discussed in a politics specific Q&A section....

Some people are opportunists and will use any news event to push their own agenda.

I AGREE, I think that right now the uber right wing conservatives are grasping at straws because they really cannot defend the failed Iraq policy. So sad.
