Well, just any name sounds like /hou'sei/, it doesn't have to be a mexican name, although i thought it was.

The name is José, spelt with an accute accent on the e. This means that the second syllable is stressed.

So....the pronunciation sounds like: Hose - a.

Or, to make it easier, here's the "joke" my 7 year old nephew told me last month.

There were two Mexican firemen - José and Hose B.....

It's not funny, but it helps with the pronunciation.

By the way, to get the accute accent (é) - alt + 130 on the number keyboard works on most computers.

José is pronounced Ho-say in Spanish and Jesus is pronounced Hay-soos.

José is pronounced more like Zho-say in Portuguese, like the Chelsea manager, José Mourinho.
