I know it's normal to feel more emotional during pregnancy, and this has been an emotional week for everyone (with the VT shootings and all), but I have been crying on and off for days. I want to cry all the time. Is this normal, or should I start to worry about depression?

It's normal. Moodiness also means irritablity...like you get angry with hubby at the drop of a hat (or him leaving his socks on the floor, etc.)

Worry about depression if you feel like you are in the depths of despair and you hate your life, you have no reason to live, etc.

If some event had a serious effect on your mental health, stability or well being when you think it shouldn't have, you might consider bringing post traumatic stress disorder into the discussions with your healthcare provider. I know several people who suddenly developed PTSD late in '01, even living hundreds of miles away from NYC.
