The bulb needs to be screwed in tighter and the plug needs to be stuck in the outlet in the wall more firmly.

First of all check and see if the bulb is screwed in tightly. If it is and you still have the problem than maybe you have a defective bulb. Try a different bulb. If that doesn't work that I would think that maybe something more complicated is at hand. Have you had any relatives or friends die recently? Light switching and other movement usually mean that someone is trying to get your attention. Be more aware of your surroundings, because if someone is trying to get your attention that they are likely to do other things, such as move small items, close doors, turn on water and knock things over. If your problem still persists, I would try unplugging the lamp or getting rid of it. It could be dangerous. Good Luck :)

touch lamps can be pretty sensitive. Vibration can sometimes turn them on like someone slamming the door or the house shaking from traffic. I had one that turned on all the time, i finally got rid of it because it drove me nuts. Now if you had a lamp that wasn't a touch lamp turning on then i might be concerned...oooooooooohhhhhhh!lol!

If you scuffle your feet across a rug and develop your own static charge you can turn on these "touch magic" lamps without touching them. I have fun with young'uns doing this.

However, follow the "check all the usual suspects" rule first

Some of those lamps are really querky. A slight vibration can turn them on. I had one near my window upstairs that would turn on when some idiot would play their car music too loud, the kind that vibrates the world. Hey, I wonder if you never dusted it if eventually the weight of the dust would turn it on?

I have to agree with the previous posters -- check for a physical problem first (plug, bulb, etc).
