Did Alec Baldwin not just get dragged through the coals?

As shocking as it was, nobody knows all sides, and if the girl was in an abusive situation, her actions don't say so. I think the media should but out

Yeah, I just heard it on the news and although it is none of our business and divorces (whether famous or not) can get pretty nasty but what a tirade!! No father or adult should be screaming at an 11 year old child like that and berating her mother, no matter what the situation is. He seems to be placing some sort of emotional blame on this little kid! That is not fair. Basinger is also at fault here, as she apparently leaked the tape to the media, which only hurts her daughter in the end. The adults need to grow up and do what is best for the poor child.

Sure, but a phone call like that confirms a lot of our speculations. Baldwin could have been nicer to Kim and should have have controlled his emotions better.

After a phone call like that I have no problem saying that this man is a danger to his own daughter. I would not be surprised if he beat Basinger.

We are so conditioned to ignore problems like this and just say it is none of our business even when women and children are clearly being hurt and suffering. It is so easy to say, "Not my problem. How a man treats his wife and child is no concern to me." We excuse bad behavior far too easily. The release of this tape is clearly a cry for help on Kim's and Ireland's behalf.

Kim released that to the media to make him look bad. He should not have talked to his daughter that way, but Kim Bassinger is NUTS! and she has driven him crazy and tried to keep his girl away from him! Anyone that has gone through a divorce and has kids needs to keep the children out of the fighting and she has not. The media should not have played that. No one should judge him either! There is no telling what kind of father he is from a brief voice mail!

Even though it's shocking, the tape should have never been made public! It was probably Kim's lawyers who leaked that tape to the press in order to make Alec look like an unfit parent! The media should butt out of a bad divorce/custody mess! It's between Kim, Alec, their daughter and their lawyers!

No matter what Alec and Kim are going through NEITHER one has the right to talk to a kid like that, especially an 11 yr old. The girl is going through enough with her parents splitting up and fighting like they are.

I don't care if she looked or acted abused when your parent calls you names then it is verbal abuse. From what I heard Emotional abuse is there too. No I don't think that everyone in the world should hear it being played on the TV and stuff but don't' make like what he did was in anyway good for her or that she deserved it.

I agree with you. It sounds like to me the daughter is playing one parent against the other. Alec doesn't have custody and since he is across the country had the courts allow him to have visitation via the telephone. For some reason Alec believed that either the daughter was playing games or that her mom (Kim) had he not answer the phone just to bug him. For him to go off like that his phone calls must go unanswered often. What ever the case, he still had no right to call his daughter a "Pig"! That was just wrong!!!
