I understand what you are saying. I agree most people seem to think that back in the 'olden' days things were simpler and easier. They probably weren't, but because time has this way of making you forget some of the bad times, it seems that way. In truth there were still social problems like drugs and alcohol, along with crime, and the threat of a war ending our existence, but how those topics are discussed now has changed greatly, thanks to the internet and 24 hour news stations.

We are aware of the dangers now because of the electronics
in our lives, media. I would not feel safe during the plague, the days of the Vikings or the Mongols or as a cave woman.
It seems we are more at risk of harm because everything is broadcast to millions. Yet hat also implies danger is spread through media as though it has a contagious element. However, I would not go back in time. I feel safer now in the present.

It's only for the morals and values, they can get that watching reruns of "Leave it to Beaver" and spending more quality time with the children they are raising, rather than buying them things to make up for not spending time with them at all. How far back are we talking? Back to when people were killed on a daily basis for looking different? Whole races exterminated based on religious differences? Back when a flu epidemic could kill thousands? We need learn from the past, not live in it. We need to pick the things that appeal to us from the "good old days" like family morals and values and use them in today's society.
