Anything that appears positive in our country right now angers the left. They don't want anyone to be able to say Bush is a good job with anything. That's why they seem to be so anti-American, they rejoice when things are going downhill for the USA whether it be the economy, the war, foreign relations......anything.

Because it got that way with run away deficit spending - caused largely by tax cuts for the rich. Deficit spending may have a stimulative effect- but so does crack cocaine, and that doesn't mean it is a good thing.

Many Republicans want to repeal the Federal Estate Tax (which they call the "Death Tax")

Good Democrats would rather repeal the "Life Tax" - which is the tax that people yet unborn will have to pay as a result of today's deficit spending. Unfortunately, there are not enough Democrats with the courage to come out say the "Life Tax" should be repealed by rolling back the Bush tax cuts.

It is as if the country is living on a giant credit card - it feels great until the credit card is maxed - but the people who put our leaders into office don't care because the bill will passed on to the next generation.

Democrats love a good economy! Do you remember the mid and late 90's? Great times!

The problem with this economy is that it is only helping the precious few at the top. Yeah, GDP growth is nice. Yeah, stock market growth is nice. But the job growth has been mostly low-wage earning jobs. Tax cuts enacted by Republicans give HUGE tax breaks to wealthy people who make their money through investments, while doing next to nothing for lower and middle class wage earners. Earnings growth for MOST Americans is not keeping up with the rising costs of health care and college educations.

In short, GDP and the DJIA are not the end-all be-all indicators of whether or not the economy is "good."

They won't admit it. Just like the disassembly of our intelligence community that led to 9-11. Or how about inheriting the best economy in the world and driving into deficit then falsely reporting the opposite.

We can dream

Many of the Democrats have spent so much time attacking Republicans, that they have no other record. If ANYTHING positive happens that the Republicans might get credit for, it is bad for those Democrats.

I don't think it does bother them much. With the unpopularity of the Iraq War, they hardly have to point to a poor economy to burry thier rivals. It'd be like holding a machine gun on your enemy and wishing you also had a club to beat him with.

(And while the economy is making modest gains at this point, I don't think it calls for that many 'o's in 'so good.')

Over 94% employment. The highest stock market in history. The lowest interest rates in decades. Record homes sales. What more could have been done.

It is?

My husband pays almost 500.00 per month for our health insurance (that sucks!). My sister was laid off due to business being slow. Our money isn't going as far as it used to, and we are having to pay almost $3.00 per gallon, even though those prices were supposed to be heading down by now.

The only thing that bothers me is there is an idiot in the White House, and you have the balls to try and make his administration look like it is doing something positive. The only president that looks worse than GW is Nixon, and he was a crook.
