Basically, "making love" is a euphemism for "having sex", probably invented so you could say what you want to do in "polite company".

However, I'd venture that "having sex" just describes the physical act of copulation whereas "making love" suggests all the rest of the ambience - foreplay, caressing, kissing, and the emotions and feelings that go along with the animal act itself.

Got me thinking; what if you reverse the nouns? What's the difference between "making sex" and "having love"?

There is a difference, but you have to experience making love before you can realize that all the other times before were just sex.

"Making love" is the G way of putting it.
"Having sex" is the PG, PG13, or R way of putting.
Technically there really is not difference. It's all just sex.
People will say when you love some one it's making love.
But in the realistic sense of the word sex is sex. You can sugar coat it and say it's making love but..........it's what you are doing really is having sex. Call it the Horizontal Twist, Mattress Mambo, Getting Busy, etc. It's SEX!!!!!!

Sex is just screwing for the sake of it, just to off. Having sex, to me, just seems like you do it and then don't care about the other peron's emotions. Making love involves passion, emotion, romance, and is more about feeling love with your partner.

the presense of care
a technicality--you can have sex with the same person you're making love to, and you don't have to be making love to the person you're having sex with, that you do also love...

oh, this is messy.

Exactly the same difference between singing and crying.

Also, when your with the one you're suppossed to be . . . you don't need sex to make love to that person.
