I think you should get a copy of that police report and start contacting a few lawyers. The sort of nonsense you describe has to cease. Causing racist business owners a little pain in their bank accounts just may help them "see the light". Good luck.

You can sue anyone for anything, but that doesn't mean you'll win the case. Technically, there was no wrong done to you so there's not really anything legally you can do. But you could do what I do when workers follow me around the store and make unnecessary comments.......I never spend another dime in that store again.

You can sue. It doesn't mean you'll win. You could sue for a number of things, all torts, which include slander, harassment, and POSSIBLY a violation of your civil rights. However, you have a high burden of proof to meet. Keep that in mind. Go see an attorney.

How do you know you were accused because of being a black male? I am daily accused of being a racist by many people in the media, merely because I'm white and don't live in Greenwich Village. If you have definitive evidence that you were descriminated against, then you could probably get some money.

i understand yr frustration but sounds like there aren't any damages. did they beat u up or take your personal property away? did they detain you for a really long time? in a store the management has the right to follow people around to detain them if they suspect a crime was committed. most lawyers wouldn't want to take such a case.

Well, I'm sure that they were profiling you just for that. Unless they actually said it. Then they were and yes you can do something about it. It's called the courts. But your story is so blank and doesn't contain details. Did they actually tell you that was why they did that?
