If the fence is above the normal 6 foot height. There's no slats or cracks someone could see through. Someone would have to stand on something to look over your fence. Mostly interested in calif but other states info would be good too.

Usually, the answer is NO. You will be charged (and likely convicted) of Indecent Exposure. It depends on the jurisdiction in which you live. If there is no law that says you can't, there still may be a city ordinance or a covenant that says you can't do so. It's just a bad idea to try.

When I was a youngster, we used to have BBQ's at my uncles house, and the ladies next door would be laying out topless, my cousins and I would look through the fence sometimes. They didn't care, and neither did anyone else at the party, as a matter of fact i remember my Uncle hitting over a beach ball a time or two and peeking over asking for it. Kinda funny, the neighbors didn't care. I hope its not illegal.

Yes! feel free to enjoy your body being warmed by the sun.
Whatever you do in the privacy of your own home (unless it is illegal!) does not concern your neighbors. My husband and I sunbathe nude regularly (and I always have in whatever state I lived in) provided we are not publically visible. I spent many years in California getting bronzed by the sun...there are many nude beaches if you feel like baring it publically...
Just make sure you are in a place where it is not obvious. Sounds like your yard is perfect.
Enjoy!

Well it's not really public indecency if it's in a private residence, so I don't think it would apply. It would be like being charged for being naked in your home and someone accidentally seeing you through a window or something.

And so many people sunbathe in their backyards anyway, I don't see why they'd enforce it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Even if it's technically illegal, I doubt any neighbor is gonna be so prudish that after looking OVER the fence, INTO your yard, they would get offended by you being naked and report it.

I can't give you a water-tight legally valid answer, but, if American movies and television are any use as a source of information, it seems to be illegal to go to bed in a state of undress.

I live in Pasadena Calif and we use our pool in the buff all of the time. No one has ever complained-except for the lady who put a ladder up to spy on us. The police told her not to climb the ladder. Welcome to California.

Yep, it's a shame isn't it! Believe it or not though It's NOT illegal to walk around the house naked with all your curtains open. So that's what I do.

yes, as long as youre not exposing yourself to anyone who walks by. If you have to go out of your way to see you in your own yard then youre good.

If you are ugly, it will be illegal to be naked in your own bathroom.
If your are hot, then it's fine by me. Call me when you going sunbathing again and I'll come over and see if the fence blocks the view
