You do not, nor is there reason to stop using one or the other. I run both Firefox and IE simultaneously without a problem.

You can have both. You select which one is to be default the first time you start up firefox. You can't easily remove IE as so much of windows is built round it. Also sites that use ActiveX need IE. Some on-line virus scans, some banking sites don't work in Firefox.

You will probably just stop using IE, as you get used to Firefox. Don't get rid of IE though as you can only get some Microsoft updates by using IE

No you don't. I keep my IE just incase and also some yahoo games only take IE. I primarily use Firefox, since there are little to no pop ups.

No but it is really best to use one or the other. I recommend Firefox and haven't used IE in probably a year.

In IE, you are able to bypass to equipment->internet recommendations and decide the classes tab. you'll see the default internet browser recommendations there.
