Well most people here dont like hockey. Its sad. But tonight it was actually pretty damn full. And even when ALL of us were walking outside we started doing all of the chants the devils ever made up and stomping on the bridge we have to wlak over to getto the parking lot. It almost broke..it was pretty wild tonight. THEY DONT PLAY BORING!

I have wondered this too. Yes, the Devils don't play the most fan-friendly hockey, but I don't think this is the real problem. They're a highly successful franchise, but, like the Predators, have a weak fan base. One of my theories was that East Rutherford is very close to New York, and the Devils are a relatively new team. So, for those actually interested in hockey, they may have already been Rangers/Islanders fans. It would be tough to base a team in a small town and expect to pull fans from the New York teams. Then again, it's plausible that is just plain isn't a hockey town, as Pittsburgh isn't a basketball town.

They play a boring style of hockey and they don't have a solid fan base. The only games they sell out are against the Rangers, Flyers, and Islanders--and it's because fans of those teams make the trip. It's a lot easier to get good tickets for a Rangers/Devils game in Jersey than it is to get good tickets for any Ranger game at MSG.

the only time they come close to selling out is when the rangers visit and at least half the crowd is rangers fans. the rangers have a large fan base in NJ and it's very easy to take the train to penn station with MSG right upstairs. the meadowlands is harder to get to, but is always packed for giants and jets games with fans coming from all over the state. i guess the devils and nets just don't have a huge fan base, even with the success they've had. it doesn't help that the arena is pretty ugly, drab and non-descript, not the most exciting atmosphere to be in.

The Florida Marlins are in ineffective final by potential of a extensive margin. I undergo in ideas seeing the highlights from final 365 days whilst Anibal Sanchez threw the no-hitter and that i might suffice to assert that basically 3-4,000 human beings have been nonetheless there, if that. i don't understand how attendance could desire to be so adverse in a single of those huge Cuban/Puerto Rican etc community. i understand the stadium a sprint some distance from Miami although that is nonetheless atypical.

Its because the location of the arena, and theres no mass transportation and parking really sucks if your a little late. i think most people would rather stay home and watch the game on tv. but next year when they have the new arena in Newark, it'll be easier to get to and in a better location and stuff, so hopefully attendance will go up

The trap can be an effective way to win hockey games, but it is a bit boring if you don't understand what's going on. Maybe that's why there are fewer fans there.

Yeah, they are more interested in the Nets...that's why their fans don't respect the game. Lightning building had 20,000 Game 3 and 21,000 Game 4.

New Jersey plays such a boring style of hockey. They get a lead and then play defense the rest of the game.

It could be because people know the arena is built over a toxic waste dump.
