The safest way I managed to remove adhesives was to use hot water. You fill the bottle with hot water then soak them in a sink of hot water. About 20 to 30 minutes later the glue is much easier to remove.
An alternative is to use a citrus based cleaner. I've used "Goo Gone" and it works on almost anything. On certain plastics you might cause some clouding effect. You can find it at most Lowes stores.

COOKING OIL!!!!
Honest, cooking oil removes almost any type of adhesive known to moms. Sometimes it needs to be rubbed in well or let to sit and soak in, but it rarely fails to remove 'stickum' of any sort. You then use plain old dish soap to remove the cooking oil. It's a much safer combo for plastic bottles than some of those solvents! Some of them eat plastic......

WD-40 works wonders for removing the residue from everything. I have 2 kids and one likes to put stickers on everything including his 7 month old sister. it also works well for removing crayon and permanent marker. I hope this helps

Hi Steph:
Try rubbing the affected area with mayonnaise (let it set for a moment) I understand it works well for the removal of glue.

Nail polish remover will do the trick. Will get rid of the stick. use a cotton cloth (old cotton shirt works best) and scrub away! This also works GREAT on glass.

Goof Off brand xylene solvent.
It's a great solvent for that kind of stuff. Rubbing alcohol works on some kinds of label glues, also (but not all of them -- Goof Off works on everything).
BTW: Goo Gone is just another brand of xylene.

Try covering the glue with packing or duct tape then pull it off.The glue on the tape should bond with the glue on the bottle and take it away with it when you pull it off.

Goo Gone made specifically for this sort of thing. Can be found in most supermarkets - if not there at the hardware store.

Goo Gone. Great for that. You'll love the stuff for anything like this. It is also great for getting gum out of hair, carpet, etc.
