Va Tech....14 school shutdowns in 3 days, shooting at NASA...will mass gun violence ever take a day off. I see hatred, intolerance and elitism mixed with the 2nd Amendment and a tabloid mainstream media as a recipe of self-destruction. A criminal attorney general with a really bad memory, a criminal reality-challenged president ...has anything good happened in America in the last 6 years? Could some one please list something good that has happened in America since Bush and GOP took total control?

If you look at the polarization and intolerance of one side for the other, I'd say that things are only getting worse, not better, and certainly not self-destructing.
And no, I can't think of a single good thing Bush and his administration have done. They have been a disaster for the whole world and will surely be remembered as the worst administration in history.

Over a million crimes are thwarted each year in the US from law-abiding gun owners.
You never hear about this, of course.
This latest killing highlights the fact that THE POLICE ARE NOT THERE TO PROTECT YOU WHEN THE CRIME HAPPENS.
They just show up later to fill out police reports, whice then are compiled into statistics to justify more funding the next year.
If even one person had been armed that day, maybe they could have stopped the killing, because the cops can't be everywhere.
It's naive to think "calling the cops" is a solution.
What is a cop after all, but a good guy with a gun?
The people need to be our own police, because there will always be lunatics.

Something good that has happened in America in the last six years? I got a master's degree, found a wonderful job doing something I love, met a fabulous woman, got married, bought a new house, have watched my investments skyrocket, and adopted one of the coolest dogs on the planet. Never forget that America is made up of individuals. Take care of yourself first and good things WILL happen. Even if they don't make the front page.

Is it self destructing? No.
Has anything good happened over the last 6 years? Yes, plenty.
Ex: Tougher laws for white collar crime with mandatory jail sentences.

In addition, our economy is on life-support due to needless war, energy waste and crushing debt in both public and private sectors.
We're fooling ourselves if we don't realize that major revamping is in order.
